Citing scheduling conflicts with other tournaments, Team NP’s founder and captain Jacky “EternalEnvy” Mao yesterday explained why the newly formed team is dropping out of ASUS ROG’s DreamLeague Season 6.

In a twitlonger, EternalEnvy said that by October 20, Team NP had already played four out of their seven opponents. Wanting to complete more matches before the start of the qualifiers last October 27, Team NP asked DreamLeague if they schedule their matches ahead of time.

But there weren’t any available time slots for the teams to do battle in. Since then, Team NP now has a bunch of LANs and a Major to attend, having qualified for ESL Genting, DotAPit, Elimination Mode. All three events happen in the same week as the DreamLeague matches.

Add to that, Team NP also qualified for the Boston Major, further constricting their schedule. With that, Team NP decided to drop out of DreamLeague.

For his part, EternalEnvy said that had the team not been invited for the Northern Arena BEAT Invitational in Montreal on November 10-13, they may have had enough time to play out their remaining DreamLeague matches.

“Whether we would have qualified or not, it is simply not a good idea to participate in 3 LANs in a row right before the Major anyway,” EternalEnvy said in his statement.

The Team NP captain further explained the time commitment dedicated to preparing for every match:

“Some people say that we should have just spent the 4-6 hours playing the remaining matches but its not so simple. A lot of time in spent is preparing for these matches. Personally I watch a lot of the opponent replays and study a lot about their draft/play. I also study our team itself and figure out whats best against the opponent. We would usually have a team meeting as well. Had we kept playing DreamLeague, some of the days we would have 7-10 games to play in one day and that’s just too much. We would have to half ass the DreamLeague games which is not what we want to do on this team.”
