Rob Reece on Internet Marketing for Newbies and Praising God

Rob Reece had been working for the man in the corporate world when he finally decided to work for himself doing Affiliate marketing. His story.

Thanks so much for doing this interview, Rob! Let’s get started!

Where were you born and raised, what was childhood like, and what did you want to be when you ‘grew up?’

First of I just want to say thank you for asking to interview me. I’m 36 years old now, married with four children, ranging from one-year-old to 15 years old. I was born and raised in Long Island City New York.

Anytime someone asks me this question I always just say New York City, while true it is not New York City proper it is one of the boroughs of New York. The neighborhood I used to live in is what we would call a project. Astoria Queens was my neighborhood.

This particular neighborhood was not the greatest, where crime was a regular thing. This is the type of neighborhood you hear often in gangster rap songs and videos . Shootings would normally occur, I had the “pleasure” of seeing many people get hurt even a car blow up in front of my apartment building.

Now while I grew up in this neighborhood I was not of the lifestyle of those who make up the neighborhood. Most would have written me off as someone who would be a statistic.

Thankfully it was due to my parents that I was not. Well of course not perfect they certainly cared for me enough to lead me in the right direction.

Unfortunately I do come from somewhat of a broken home where my biological father told me at the age of 4 that he no longer wanted to deal with me because I was too much trouble.

As I suffered terribly from asthma when I was a child he had me for a weekend and didn’t know what to do. He was a drug dealer and drug addict himself but whom I consider my real father who is actually my stepdad has been there as long as I can remember and he is what I would say my father.

And having a mother who birthed me at the age of 16 was certainly difficult. As far as my childhood dreams of what I wanted to be when I grow up, I always had an affinity for the American Pastime of baseball.

From my earliest ages that I can remember I love playing the game not so much watching baseball even though I had a favorite team when I was young, I always loved playing the game.

By the time I went to high school I was a starter pitcher on our baseball team that did quite well and when it came time for college I wanted to attend Seton Hall University to play ball and hopes that I would be a major league baseball player at some point.

But through certain circumstances and certain life choices I’ve made that certainly went down the drain. By the time I was in college I had never had much freedom in the sense of getting into trouble as a young teenager so by the time I started attending University I made some choices surrounding drugs and other behaviors that really hindered my dreams and my education.

And it further spiraled into terrible life choices getting into the life of drugs drug dealing so on and so forth and you can imagine the trouble I’ve been in.

I’ve been arrested, had people chase after me for money, even to the point of a terrible addiction that led to me stealing from my closest friends to pay for my habit and to pay off people who are trying to hurt me.

What did your parents do for a living and was there any Entrepreneurship in the family?

Funny you should ask this question because my father the one who’s been in my life owns his own company, he emigrated from South America the country is Chile, and ever since he moved to America that was his dream to live out the quote on quote American Dream and he did it.

He’s successful, he’s run his own company for the last 30-plus years but not so much my mom. I think she always had a desire but never had the drive for it.

So she works in Corporate America does quite well in that setting. The one strange thing that I do remember was how hard pressing they were on formal education. As I never actually graduated college.

I’ve been to two separate schools never completing. Mostly due to money but also due to lack of dedication to my work and studies. All my fault, certainly I wish I would have completed, to say that I’ve done it.

~

What kind of work did you eventually do and what was the downside of these jobs?

Well as I was brought up and taught get a job, get a job, get a job. I have never had a great track record in keeping jobs. From the time I was 20 till 30 I jumped around from telemarketing job to telemarketing job to this sales job to that sales job, really whatever would pay me at the time and as long I was satisfied at the moment that’s what I would do.

By my mid-twenties I was married with a couple of kids and really just a loser. Mostly due to drugs and certain behaviors because of that lifestyle. Eventually through other circumstances which I’m sure you’ll get into shortly things changed for me and my situation and ended up working for a Fortune 500 company for their sales team.

But still because of my lack of enjoyment in the work I was doing even though I was making decent money I could not hold down this job for very long. Few years Max. And the cycle began again of going from job to job.

I finally came to realize I hated having to answer to people and being held under someone else’s thumb and in danger of losing a paycheck. Quite frankly that was the number one reason I realized I jumped from job to job. I hated having a boss and I hated having someone else dictate whether or not I would make money, especially with having a family.

When did you discover internet marketing, and what were your first year like?

I’ve known about internet marketing for a few years now. I dabbled in a form of it called Retail Arbitrage also Loosely known as Drop Shipping. I started doing this for a little while and quickly fizzled out just because the money wasn’t coming in quick enough so I had to get back into quote-unquote Corporate America for a short period of time.

But 2016 was the year that I started fully getting into it full time. My wife and myself were in a position to where if I wanted to I could venture off into internet marketing full-time to which that decision was made. Certainly not without certain sacrifices. Even now.

~

What is the the best tip you have for new internet marketers?

Wow, this is a really poignant question, because there’s really not a best tip. There’s certainly advice that I was given that I think resonated with me the most and has been the most helpful.

The one thing I don’t want to allude to is here’s the one thing that you must do that will make you successful. What I can say is this.

Nothing will be handed to you, you must fight and I mean fight hard for what you want. There will be pains there will be difficulties there will be sacrifices there will be arguments there will be wins there will be losses and you have to be able to deal with all of that.

If you can’t hack it if you can’t handle the difficult part of this decision then you are destined to fail and fail quickly and fail miserably. But if you have the fortitude and the willingness and the capability of fighting through, have a fighting spirit, then you’re going in the right direction. But it is certainly not for everyone.

~

What are your three best products that you reviewed recently, and how do they help internet marketers?

That’s too simplistic of a question in my opinion. Because you have tools that do stuff for you like automation things. You have trainings that are available. And you have software for websites plugins so on and so forth. This is what I would say.

If there’s a new internet marketer, the new product by Ben Martin which is an internet marketing training, using free traffic sources to generate commissions is a must-have.

I’ve reviewed it  I’ve used it  it’s phenomenal  and It’s called castaway commissions. It walks you through how to get eyes and qualified eyes in front of different affiliate offers whether through Amazon and their affiliate program or some of the more well-known ClickBank jvzoo Etc. That would be one.

Another marketer that I can recommend any training from is Michael Cheney. I got started with a product he made called commission cartel which is a little more in depth and in my opinion a little more advanced training then Castaway commissions but never the less a great training.

Another product that I highly suggest is another training specifically tailored around Facebook live. And how to Leverage that platform, live streaming capabilities for building an audience as well as making commissions. It’s a warrior product by Riley Hunter called live power affiliate.

He really gives you an incredible detailed training over-the-shoulder buy a video schedules headlines that attract people to your video really a phenomenal training. I haven’t written a review on it yet because I’m still going through the course however I would certainly recommend it to anyone.

And I will be doing a review soon. The last one I would suggest is a video product that creates video animations. Video is extremely important especially for the new market or nowadays. I’m sure you can get away without doing video however I believe you’re shooting yourself in the foot.

If you’re doing videos I would highly recommend Reevio. This allows you to make custom animations logo animations and a whole lot more. If you’re going to be leveraging video on YouTube or similar sites this is certainly a really cool tool to have as it makes your video pop and stand out.

What I don’t want to do is leave your audience hanging and leave out this key tool to help with automation. I haven’t done a review on it I don’t plan to I don’t even promote it but it’s an incredible tool to help you with video. And it’s free. It’s called be live TV. If you Google it find it sign up for it it’s free use it, that’s all I’ll say about that.

I love that you preach on the streets. Are you a born-again, or always have been Christian, and what led you to Christ?

Quite frankly out of the entire interview this is my favorite question. Because Christianity is everything to me. Before I get into all that  I preach on the streets yes I am born again. I’m a deacon at a church in Frisco Texas. And I’d like to correct you on your question if I may. You asked have I always been a Christian?

According to the Bible there’s no such thing as always being a Christian. You may have been brought up with somewhat Christian values and a Christian kind of home but no one is born a Christian.

As Jesus Christ said you must be born again. What that means in short is that we must recognize that before God because we are imperfect, that we all have broken God’s commands like you shall not lie, steal, blaspheme Etc, the list goes on especially for me, and because of this there is a Divine curse upon Humanity to which we have two options, either we can eternally pay for our own what the Bible would label as Sin or we can have our consciences, our crimes if you will, against God wiped clean if we repent turn away from ourselves, our selfish ways and turn to God, turn away from our sins and put our trust and faith in Jesus Christ and receive the greatest thing ever which is eternal life.

Now, I am a self-professed bible thumper I use that jokingly because you asked about preaching on the streets. I do hold strong beliefs.  I believe I am 100% correct and I do believe that anyone who does not believe the way I do in respect to religion that there is hell to pay quite literally. Yes I believe in Eternal fire the whole nine.

However, the Bible commands me that if I love God I must love my neighbor and every man woman and child in this world is my neighbor.

So, I’ll give you an example of why I go on the streets preaching the message that I do and to many I look like a complete fool, which is fine because if I believe, truly believe there is a hell where people will go if they don’t believe in Jesus Christ, not because they don’t believe, but because of their sins that must be paid for, if I truly believe that I want people to know how to escape.

It’s kind of like a blind man walking towards a cliff and you watch him but you do nothing to warn him of the cliff ahead. I would say this is the most hateful act anyone can do. I’ve been street preaching for a little over 3 years now I’ve been a Christian for about 6-7 years .

My testimony in a sense is like every other Christian I realized that God existed that I am mainly new as what Romans chapter one says that everyone knows God exists, I was overwhelmed by my sin and the things that I’ve done in this life and my conscience was getting to me and one day I finally heard that Jesus Christ died and paid the penalty for Sinners and that if we came to him in faith that we would be fully forgiven, that he would remove our sin, that he would give you a new heart, and a new desire for things that he loves and was forever changed.

Now, the specific circumstances surrounded exactly what I’ve already mentioned earlier to your questions. Drug addiction, circumstances with my family, just the world came crashing down really hard, and the only thing left was to cry out God help me if you’re there and he did.

~

What is your favorite scripture, and what does it mean to you?

I’d like to assist you in the framing of the question. What I mean by that is it doesn’t matter what scripture means to me. What matters is what it says and what God meant when he wrote it through men.

Most American Christians would throw in the ever famous John chapter 3 verse 16 for God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whoever Shall Believe in him will not perish but have everlasting life.

I don’t use that at all while a wonderful scripture because most people do not continue to read it. If they continue to read it it is pretty heavy stuff. I don’t have a favorite scripture if I am being honest. I love the entire Bible because it’s all about how sinful undeserving men and women receive Grace undeservingly from God.

Ephesians 2-8 through 9 for his grace you are saved through faith not of works lest any man should boast it is purely a gift of God that any man or woman receives the gift of Salvation because quite frankly none of us if we are honest with ourselves and look at God’s holy perfect law, none of us deserve the free gift of life. Especially since he is the one who has given us life.

To get back to how you framed the question if I could I believe there is one meaning to the Bible not individual interpretations. Now we may have differing opinions on certain things however I believe that God communicated in such a way to where he meant something when he spoke it and it is our duty to uncover by the power of the Holy Spirit what that is.

I love your blog! How old is it, how many posts are on it, and what is your daily traffic like?

Quite frankly it’s quite new I just finished up the design of it only about two months ago and I’m currently working on curating my content and repurposing what I do on social media through video and text to my blog. Because it is quite new the traffic is still new as well I’ll get back to you in a year’s time haha

~

Should every internet marketer blog and why?

That’s certainly personal preference I think that it certainly would help but I also do know that not Everyone likes to write. What I do think is that a sustainable model of internet marketing will include a Blog of some sort or even a video blog.

~

What’s the best way to generate leads for you these days, and can you share a technique?

Social media is such a powerful tool. Especially for internet marketing. But people forget that it is a social media platform. Some of these marketers so-called forget the social part.

What I would suggest is let people see your life share things about who you are don’t just be a late night infomercial all day long hocking products. So, a technique I would suggest is post on social media as if you are a real person, with a real life, that does internet marketing.

~

What is your favorite book right now and why?

Well besides the Bible haha my book of choice right now since this is mainly a business blog I’ll provide you a business book. It’s a book on neuro-linguistic persuasion for short NLP. It’s called the unfair advantage.

Its written by PHD Duane Lakin. In short it teaches you The Power of Words when it comes to communication and persuasion. What it’s not about is speaking in such a manner to where you manifest things magically but how you can effectively use words to your favor when speaking with potential clients friends family Etc.

~

What are your goals for 2017?

My goals are quite simple for 2017 be better than 2016 that is all I can ask of myself and that is all I believe anyone else can ask of themselves. I believe in setting high goals and my high goal is to be able to have my wife quit her job completely and live solely on internet marketing income.

~

What is your favorite quote and why?

Do what others want to achieve what others can’t.

This is a quote I recently heard from one of my who I would say mentors unofficially. I think it speaks volumes. Because it speaks both of the hard work and the great reward available.

~

Thank you so much for this interview Rob!

It was a pleasure thank you so much for this opportunity. I’m sure you’re going to cut some of this down because I used talk to text to answer all of these but I certainly had a lot of fun answering all of these questions.
