A foreign exchange program is looking for host families in the Denver-Ephrata area for 15 students from Spain.

Horizons du Monde, a nonprofit organization, is bringing Spanish students to the area to stay with host families from July 1-29. The exchange is coordinated through Cocalico High School.

The students, aged from 14 to 17 will spend the 4 weeks immersed in host family life, learning all about life in Lancaster County.

It’s an exciting time for these students, many coming to the United States for the very first time. You’ll get the chance to not only help them learn a little bit about our country-but you’ll get the chance to learn about their culture and country, too!

Students will stay with host families, and adapt to their new home environment doing whatever the family typically does. Weekly excursions are planned for the students, who will make visits to New York City, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, and Hershey Park.

Host families are invited to join us at our discounted rates as room on the bus permits. The students will also attend ESL classes 3 days per week for 4 hours per day. They have already had a minimum of 3 to 5 years of English which is usually sufficient enough to where you do not need to know Spanish to communicate with them.

Several local trips will also be planned to give the students a great taste of South Central Pennsylvania.

There is also an escort that comes with them that will also need a host family for that time, and he/she along with myself are always available should any problems or concerns arise.

Call soon to select your student-and begin an experience you’ll never forget! Interested families should contact Patti Friedmann at 284-0643 or at frespirbb@comcast.net.
