MANILA, PHILIPPINES. Three Filipino dance groups danced their way off to win major places in the 2015 World Hip Hop Dance Championship held in San Diego, California on August 9 (USA time), Rappler reported.

The winning crews were: Legit Status, 2nd Place - Varsity Division; Romancon, 2nd Place - Adult Division and A Team, 3rd Place - Mega Crew Division.

The 2015 World Hip Hop Dance Championship was subdivided into four divisions: Junior for 7-12 age group; Varsity for 13-17 age group; Adult for 18 and older age group and Mega Crew for all ages.

In the Varsity Division, Kana-Boon of Japan won first place followed by Legit Status of The Philippines, 2nd place and JB Star of Japan, 3rd place.

Results in the Adult Division is as follows: Bradas (New Zealand), 1st place; Romancon (The Philippines), 2nd place and Kings United (India), 3rd place.

In the Mega Crew Division, Lockn'lol of Korea won first place, The Royal Family of New Zealand in second place while A Team of The Philippines got the third highest spot.

The winners of the Junior Division were Chapkidz (USA) in 1st place, Next Jr (Japan) in 2nd place, and Youngster (Canada) in 3rd place.

The other Philippine groups who also represented the country in the final rounds of the competition but failed to clinch a top spot are La Salle Dance Company -Street (LSDC-Street) and Rockstars.

The event was held from August 3 to 9 and was participated by crews and mega crews from around 50 countries who also witnessed celebrity performances and joined in dance workshops conducted during the event.

The dancers also represented their countries in the World Battles for breaking, popping, locking and all styles according to Rappler.

The World Hip Hop Championship 2015, which was live streamed in Manila at Samsung Hall, SM Aura on Monday, August 10, is presented by Hip Hop International (HHI), the producer of MTV's America's Best Dance Crew.
