Hong Kong’s first and only consumer IoT accelerator gathers tech elites, entrepreneurs, and investors from around the globe at the two-day conference.
Global IoT (Internet of Things) accelerator and platform Brinc will host LAUNCH, the first Hong Kong consumer IoT summit, on 27-28 January 2016 at PMQ in Central, Hong Kong. Supported by Amazon Web Services, Microsoft, and Tesla, Brinc is excited to partner with InvestHK and Cyberport to bring the Summit as part of the 2016 StartmeupHK Festival. The jam-packed two-day conference will encompass keynotes, workshops, networking events, a startup contest and hackathon, offering an immersive experience for IoT ecosystem players to network and invest in new connected product business models that will change how consumers interact, work and live.
The programme will feature a high calibre speaker line-up of senior technologists, leaders and influencers in IoT from across Asia-Pacific, Europe and the USA. Speakers include Spencer Fung, CEO of Li & Fung; Tom Via, CEO of Brookstone; Sonny Vu, Founder of Misfit; and Josh Holmes, Director of Architecture of Microsoft, with additional speakers announced in the coming weeks.
“Global IoT is a rapidly growing market. It went from existing as a new technology domain to a sector that is set to become a US$1.7 trillion* business by 2020. Even with this massive market opportunity, IoT founders face many challenges unique to building an IoT product and requiring a different accelerator approach that software startups have been accustomed to joining,” commented Manav Gupta, founder and CEO of Brinc.
“To support and accelerate the development of the global IoT ecosystem, Brinc aims to create and foster an entrepreneurial environment for IoT startups by providing them an end-to-end platform that takes their ideas from concept, to product development to sustainable commercialisation. LAUNCH, as our flagship event, offers entrepreneurs an opportunity to learn and collaborate with industry players and influencers, whilst showcasing investment opportunities to business leaders, bringing the next hardware unicorn to life.”
Brinc will also offer startups an opportunity to showcase their ideas as part of the LAUNCH Global Startup competition, which welcomes submissions from startups or SMEs in the IoT sector that are developing internet-connected hardware and software device, with less than £1 million investment and staff of less than 25 employees. A team of industry leaders, entrepreneurs and peers will select the finalists and offer them the opportunity to present their companies at the pitching session during the two-day conference. Winning startups will receive investment and support from the accelerator at a value of between US$100,000 – 500,000.
