Advantech has designed a pair of server chassis, the 4U HPC-7442and 2U HPC-7242, with new industrial designs that represent a breakthrough from the traditional line of industrial PC enclosures.

They provide users with intelligent, high-performance operating platforms that can serve as NVR and DVR servers for video surveillance applications and SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition) servers for applications in factory automation, BEMS and so on, all apps with high storage demands.

HPC-7442 and HPC-7242 support versatile EATX and ATX motherboards, with a highly efficient switching power supply and easy-to-maintain cooling fans. They provide at least four SAS/SATA HDD trays, which offer flexible options for data storage.

Other data storage choices include one slim-type drive bay for an optical disk drive, and one or two drive bays for internal hard drives. The unique alarm module monitors system status such as power, HDD, temperature, fan, and LAN, to maximize system uptime.

Fan speed is controlled according to chassis internal temperature, optimising system power consumption and minimizing noise. A wide range of standard computing peripherals can be integrated with these chassis to accommodate robust, 24/7 applications in rugged environments.

The chassis are designed for SCADA applications when combined with the industrial motherboards, as the systems provide secure, reliable SCADA server solutions to vertical applications in factory automation, environmental monitoring, transportation and building energy management systems.

The HPC-7442 supports EATX/ATX motherboards in a 4U rackmount/tower chassis with a shock-resistant disk drive bay that holds four mobile 3.5in and 2.5in SAS/SATA disk trays, one slim optical disk drive, and one 3.5in internal drive.

Up to eight mobile HDD trays provide high storage capacity and it has an easy-maintenance, front-accessible system fan, LED indicators and audible alarm notification for system fault detection and a smart fan speed control for system fans.

Remote management is possible with a new alarm board and Advantech’s remote management software SUSIAccess.

The HPC-7242 supports ATX motherboard in a 2U rackmount chassis with the same drive bays, redundant power supplies and management. The chassis are available from July 2013.
