As we enter
the New Year I thought it would be fun to look back on 2012’s best post from
Enchanted Homeschooling Mom.

The most
clicked on post for 2012 was my post about ‘Why Our Family’s Homeschooling
Journey Lead Us To A Local Charter School.’ I have found over the last 5+ years
of our homeschooling journey that there is an unspoken stigma attached to us when
it comes to our choice to homeschooling through a local charter school. Many around us seem to look down upon this option as if families that take this path are
not actual homeschoolers because of the misconception that we have someone just
giving us the work/assignments and all we have to do is teach the provided lesson
plans and turn in the work. For our family I create all of the children’s
lesson plans, hand select and order all of the curriculums and have 100 percent
freedom to teach my children the best way that I see fit. Because we are part
of a charter school it is true that they provide materials, but it is me who
has to figure out what to do with it.  Another
great asset to the charter school option is that I do have a homeschooling fairy who is like family now to us that I can always rely on to guide me in the
right direction if I get lost, help me make sure that all of the state
requirements are met every month and so forth. Thank goodness she is involved
too because having her advice and just knowing that she is there to fall back
on whenever I need her is invaluable to say the least! I invite you all to hop
on over and read all about how our homeschooling journey lead us to a local
charter school program:

I also
wanted to include my personal favorite post of 2012 on my blog. To me this completely
sums up why our family loves homeschooling. In our homeschooling journey we can
plan and prepare all we want but sometimes it is the unexpected that makes
learning at home such a wonderful experience!
