I am definitely not living the life I had planned to live.  In fact, if all had gone according to the plan, I would just now be looking to get married.  That is because I had really important things to do before getting married and having kids.  I had to live a little.  I had to get a degree.  I had to become a doctor.  I had to establish a successful private practice.

Instead, I married at nineteen, was pregnant six months later, and now have three children.  I did get a degree, but it is an associates degree that I will never use.  And as far a being a doctor, that will never happen either.

Now, don’t think that life got in the way, and forced me to give up on my dreams.  Quite the opposite is true.  Life got in the way and helped me realize my real dreams.  I am now a happy-homeschool-mom!  This is the most rewarding occupation in the entire world.

I find most other moms fit into two categories:  working or stay-at-home.  The working moms constantly complain about their dead-end jobs and how they don’t have enough time with their kids.  Then there are the stay-at-home moms and they feel lonely and isolated.  Their husbands are at work all day and their children at school.  Most don’t even realize that there is a third option.  Happy moms homeschool!

Homeschooling gives mothers the best of both worlds – purpose and meaning deeper than the laundry bin and the opportunity to build rich relationships with our own children.  I am convinced that if more moms homeschooled, there would be few “desperate housewives.”  That is because, although we homeschool for the good of our children, secretly we know it is just as good and healthy for moms.
