Conference Website Now Open; Early Bird Discounts Through December 13
Washington, DC (September 24, 2013) – The Consortium for School Networking (CoSN) today opened registration for its 2014 Annual Conference on March 19-22 in Washington, DC. Themed,Continuously Connected, Constantly Learning, the Conference will explore today’s hyper-connected world and how K-12 school leaders can create digital learning ecosystems. “Early Bird” registration specials are available through December 13. Interested attendees can register on the new CoSN 2014 website, cosnconference.org.
“K-12 is experiencing a fascinating shift, one where educators and students are always collaborating, communicating and creating,” said Pat Haughney, 2014 Conference Chair, and Director of Information Services, Barrington CUSD 220, Barrington, IL. “This transition has forced school leaders to expand their roles to harness the energy and continuous connection among educators and students. CoSN 2014 attendees will dive into this reality, accompanying peers and the foremost leaders in education technology to discover how to create inspirational and innovative learning environments. And what better location to conduct this exploration than in our nation’s capital.”
CoSN 2014 will feature several activities covering topics related to the Conference’s theme and led by education technology experts from across the world. Key activities include:
Pre- and Post-Conference Events.
The 2014 International Symposium, titled “Connected Learning – What Does This Mean for Formal Education?” will provide global perspectives and international expertise on top issues. In addition, CoSN will host several pre-conference professional development workshops and post-conference exclusive learning tours of popular, historic sites throughout Washington, including the Department of State, Library of Congress, Ford’s Theater and the monuments, among others.
Conference Sessions and Presentations. The Conference’s bookend opening and closing plenary sessions will feature remarks covering big data, digital learning and disruptive technology. Scheduled keynote speakers include the Honorable Bob Wise, President of Alliance for Excellent Education; Yong Zhao, Presidential Chair and Associate Dean for Global Education at the University of Oregon; and David Pogue, Tech Columnist for the New York Times. Attendees will also explore issues, trends and practices during “Spotlight Sessions” and individual presentations.
In addition, CoSN will hold its first-ever CoSNCamp – an opportunity for attendees to partner with others with mutual interests throughout the Conference. The Camp will combine fixed, pre-arranged sessions outside the main agenda with “in-the-moment” impromptu sessions based on concepts explored during the Conference.
