Description
This metadata template links Wikisource pages to various library catalogue systems (see authority control on Wikipedia).

The supported authority files include:

# Personennamendatei (PND)

# Library of Congress Control Number (LCCN)

# Virtual International Authority File (VIAF)

# SELIBR by the National Library of Sweden

# Gemeinsame Körperschaftsdatei (GKD)

# Schlagwortnormdatei (SWD)

# International Standard Book Number (ISBN)

# Online Computer Library Center (OCLC)

# National Archives and Records Administration Archival Research Catalog (ARC)

# Archival Resource Key (ARK) by the Bibliothèque nationale de France (BNF)

# Union List of Artist Names (ULAN)

# National Library of Australia (NLA)

Additional links will be generated to WorldCat using, in order of preference, LCCN, LCCNid and then OCLC. If none of these are given, it will use the LCCNbook and finally the page name to contruct a link to a search query.

Parameters
The following data sources are accepted:

{| class="wikitable"

|-

! Parameter name || Scope<br />(Namespace) || Name || Description || Source

|-

| PND

| Author

| Personennamendatei

| Authority data on persons from the German National Library.

| The PND can be found via http://viaf.org. They are marked with a little German flag (). The PND entries in the VIAF datasets are linked to the entries in the online catalogue of the German National Library. On that site, the PND can either be found in the browser's adress bar as part of the website's adress or as the last part of a web adress in the field named "Link zu diesem Datensatz".

|-

| LCCN<br />&nbsp;&nbsp;LCCNid<br />&nbsp;&nbsp;LCCNbook

| All

| Library of Congress Control Number

| Authority data on persons or items from the United States Library of Congress.

| The Library of Congress Control Number can be found on various websites. The easiest way is via http://viaf.org (see above). Items in the library catalog, can be found in the Library of Congress Online Catalog. For idnetities, other options are the websites of Library of Congress Identities and Worldcat Identities.

Note that, for identities, the LCCN has to be formatted in a special way so it can be used in the template: it consists of a alphabetic prefix ("n", "nr", "no", etc..), the year (two digits, four digits since 2001) and a 6-digit serial number. These parts have to be separated by a "/" and leading zeros of the serial number have to be removed.

* "<code>n 79063767</code>" → "<code>n/79/63767</code>"

* "<code>n 79022889</code>" → "<code>n/79/22889</code>"

* "<code>no2010136878</code>" → "<code>no/2010/136878</code>"

For books and publications, the LCCN should be a simple numeric 8- or 10-digit call number.

The template is be able to detect that it is being used in the author namespace and process the call number appropriately. However, if desired, separate parameters can be used to force the correct behaviour. For people rather than books, use the parameter LCCNid. For books rather than people, use the parameter LCCNbook. Either will override LCCN.

|-

| VIAF

| Author

| Virtual International Authority File

| International authority data from the Online Computer Library Center (OCLC). The VIAF combines authority records from around 20 national libraries and other authority files like the Getty Union List of Artist Names.

| The VIAF ID corresponding to the subject of the article can be found on http://viaf.org, which combines authority records from many organizations worldwide into single datasets. Enter the person's name in the search field and find the corresponding dataset in the search results. The VIAF ID can be found underneath the name list. If the entries for a particular person in the various authority records haven't been merged into a single VIAF dataset yet, use the VIAF ID that contains the subject's LCCN. Sooner or later VIAF will merge them into one dataset and redirect to this from old IDs.

|-

| SELIBR

| Author

| SELIBR

| Authority data from the National Library of Sweden.

| The identifier can be found via http://viaf.org. The VIAF datasets containing such identifiers link to the authority records at http://libris.kb.se . Copy the number in the last part of that web address and paste it into the SELIBR parameter in the template.

Note that only records where the name field is labeled "Person" are valid PND records that can be used in this template. If the name field is labeled "Name", this particular record is not individualized, which means that the record can contain publications of various authors of the same name.

|-

| GKD

| Portal (Corporations)

| Gemeinsame Körperschaftsdatei

| Authority data on corporations from the German National Library

|

|-

| SWD

| Portal

| Schlagwortnormdatei

| Authority data on subjects from the German National Library

|

|-

| ISBN

| Book

| International Standard Book Number

|

|

|-

| OCLC

| Book

| Online Computer Library Center

| Title authority data from Online Computer Library Center. Links to WorldCat (with a link separate to the automatic WorldCat link explained below).

|

|-

| ARC<br />&nbsp;&nbsp;ARCid<br />&nbsp;&nbsp;ARCitem<br />&nbsp;&nbsp;ARCorg<br />&nbsp;&nbsp;ARCsub<br />&nbsp;&nbsp;ARCgeo

| All

| Archival Research Catalog

| Authority data from the US National Archives and Records Administration.

| Records in the Archival Research Catalog clearly display an "ARC Identifier" among the details. Other entries, including people, can be found in the "Index Terms" section of records, for example as contributors or subjects. In these cases, the number can be found in the link URL (following the <code>id=</code>) but not in the URL of the page if the link is followed.

The template will detect the namespace and link to an author, if used in the Author namespace; to a topical subject, is used in the Portal namespace; or a title, if used elsewhere. This behaviour can be forced by using ARCid for authors, ARCitem for items (such as books) in the catalog, ARCorg for organisations, ARCsub for topical subjects or ARCgeo for geographical locations. Either parameter overrides the plain ARC parameter.

|-

| BNF

| Author

| Archival Resource Key

| Authority data from the Bibliothèque nationale de France (National Library of France).

| You must use the full 11-letter identifier, including the "cb" prefix and the final check character for the link to work. If you use the 8-digit BNF identifier from the VIAF overview, the link will not work. You can get the full identifier by clicking through to the processed VIAF record and looking for field "009".

|-

| ULAN

| Author

| Union List of Artist Names

| Authority data from the w:J. Paul Getty Trust.

|

|-

| NLA

| Author

| National Library of Australia

| Authority data from the National Library of Australia

|

|-

| OL

| Book

| Open Library

| Creates a link to an entry on Open Library.

|

|-

| LT

| Book

| Library Thing

| Creates a link to an entry on Library Thing.

|

|-

| IBL<br />&nbsp;&nbsp;IBLid<br />&nbsp;&nbsp;IBLbook

| Author/Book

| Internet Book List

| Creates a link to an entry on the Internet Book List

| This number can be found in the URL.

The template will detect the namespace and link to an author, if used in the Author namespace, or a title, elsewhere. This behaviour can be forced by using IBLid for authors or IBLbook for books. Either parameter overrides the plain IBL parameter.

|-

| ISFDB<br />&nbsp;&nbsp;ISFDBid<br />&nbsp;&nbsp;ISFDBtitle<br />&nbsp;&nbsp;ISFDBpub

| Author/Book

| Internet Speculative Fiction Database

| Creates a link to an entry on the Internet Speculative Fiction Database.

| This number can be found in the URL after the question mark on the Internet Speculative Fiction Database itself.

For example, Dracula by Bram Stoker has the URL <code>www.isfdb.org/cgi-bin/title.cgi?2072</code>, where the number to be entered into the template is <code>2072</code>.

The template will detect the namespace and link to an author, if used in the Author namespace, or a title, elsewhere. This behaviour can be forced by using ISFDBid for authors, ISFDBtitle for titles or ISFDBpub for publications (the latter is not available with the plain parameter only). All three parameters override the plain ISFDB parameter.

|-

| ARCHIVE

| Book

| Internet Archive

| Creates a link to the Internet Archive.

| The Internet Archive identifier is displayed at the bottom of Internet Archive pages and it is part of those pages' URL. For example, <code>archive.org/details/identifier</code>.

|-

| WORLDCATID

| All

| WorldCat

| Optional overrride only. When using the parameter LCCN a link will be automatically added to WorldCat database. WORLDCATID can be used to provide alternative link without LCCN.

| Links can be found at http://www.worldcat.org/identities/
