The Haiti country director will develop and manage the HOPE International Savings and Credit Association (SCA) program in Haiti to promote and fulfill the mission and vision of HOPE International. This principally includes emphasizing spiritual integration and Christian witness, developing and managing partnerships with a variety of local church denominations and NGOs in Haiti, managing staff and operations of the program, ensuring timely and accurate reporting, and hosting strategic HOPE donors/partners and promoting HOPE programs to gain their support. This position will require significant travel and in-person interaction with staff and SCA members throughout Haiti.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Spiritual Integration and Christian Witness:
-Develop and implement a spiritual integration plan for the program in Haiti that contains clear goals and metrics against which to measure progress toward goals. This should be done in conversation with HOPE Spiritual Integration Department
-Ensure the establishment of weekly devotions and prayer among staff of HOPE Haiti in order to maintain a focus on the program’s Christ-centered mission and vision and to promote spiritual growth among staff, group members and other associated parties
-Ensure a healthy spiritual balance within your family, work and church life through the adoption of Biblical, personal, spiritual disciplines

Relationship Management:
-Oversee and proactively manage relationships between HOPE and local denominational and NGO partners to ensure the longevity and continued growth of the program. This should be done in conjunction with the existing team within HOPE International and the appropriate representatives of the partner institutions
-Provide programmatic support to program staff through high level oversight as well as hands-on training, motivation, guidance and logistics support
-Assist the HI Regional Director in supporting Esperanza International Haiti by maintaining excellent relationships with the staff and Executive Management of EI, representing HI’s interests with Esperanza, and seeking collaborative opportunities between HOPE’s SCA programs and Esperanza’s microfinance activities for the benefit of our clients

Planning:
-Develop 3-5 year strategic plans and annual business plans for the growth and development of the Savings and Credit Associations programs, and for HOPE Haiti
-Collaborate with HOPE’s Savings and Credit Association team in order to ensure the programs are following HOPE’s standards and best practices for SCAs in their activities. Set appropriate performance and social metrics and targets for achievement. Provide correction, guidance and support when program participants stray from the approved methodology
-Establish and implement a strategy for sourcing the appropriate resources (people, financial, etc) needed to achieve the goals outlined within the program’s plan. This should include the creation of a resource plan and program budget to be submitted to HOPE International during its annual budgeting process

Financial Management:
-Establish a system (or adapt the current system) for tracking expenses related to HOPE Haiti.
-Submit requests for funding to HOPE International in a timely manner with appropriate back-up to ensure resources are made available at the appropriate time
-Ensure the achievement of programmatic goals and objectives while remaining within the budget set out for HOPE Haiti and its various partner institutions
Reporting
-Provide support to the partners by assisting in the continued development and implementation of a set reporting format for SCA group activities, as defined and supported by HOPE
-Ensure that HOPE and the church partner reporting deadlines are met
-Provide additional reports as needed for donors, auditors, and other parties
-Meet regularly with the HI Regional Director and SCA team to review status of progress toward goals and to address issues

Systems, Assets, and Risk Management:
-Establish systems and standard operating processes and procedures for the operational management of HOPE Haiti which ensure that risk for the organization is minimized
-Ensure systems are in place or are developed to review, expose, report and eliminate areas of risk within the organization
-Ensure that HOPE Haiti’s assets are secure and maintained

Governance:
-Lead the establishment of HOPE as a legal entity in Haiti
-Work with the Board of Directors (BOD) of HOPE Haiti to ensure compliance with Haitian law in respect to the proper functioning of an NGO BOD and documentation of BOD meetings
-Work with HOPE Haiti BOD to schedule and prepare for regular board meetings
-Maintain proactive communication with HOPE Haiti BOD including monthly metric and narrative reporting
-Advise HOPE Haiti BOD on important issues arising that have strategic impact on the SCA program.

HOPE International Network Representative:
-Represent HOPE’s various interests and potential partnerships within Haiti by proactively developing relationships with like-minded Christ-centered organizations and pursuing existing relationships that may result in mutually beneficial partnerships
-Show hospitality to any and all visitors from HOPE International or related parties that wish to visit the program and witness its operations. This includes the timely establishment and creation of appropriate itineraries, overseeing all necessary on the ground logistics, and accurately representing HOPE International and its mission through communication with visitors.
-Attend HOPE International’s Annual Leadership Summit in order to facilitate lateral learning and relationship building among the programs within HOPE’s network
