Two wonderful new projects by Finnish interior architect/designer Joanna Laajisto just landed in my inbox. What a great way to start the week!

Joanna Laajisto Creative Studio has designed a new shop and restaurant concept for Finnish quality seafood company Lappeen Savukari oy. Finlandia Caviar Shop and Restaurant is a place where you can purchase the finest quality caviar and oysters, or enjoy them on the spot with a glass of bubbly or vodka.

The objective for the interior concept was a fresh, Scandinavian look that compliments the historical building it is located in. The color scheme of subdued greys, creams and hints of blue is inspired by the Finnish winter landscape; though with the use of natural wood and lighting, the place manages to be warm and inviting.  All of the furniture pieces are by Finnish furniture manufacturers and local woodworkers.

The next project is Intro:

In the city of Kuopio, Finland, an old classic restaurant, Intro, has undergone a major renovation designed by Helsinki based Joanna Laajisto Creative Studio.

The new Intro with a total of 450 sq.mt is divided into a restaurant with 50 seats on one side and a nightclub of equal size on the other.

The new restaurant is light and airy with a subtle color palette. Some punches of color are added in the textiles and fixtures, such as the sofas covered in woven Kvadrat wool fabric by Paul Smith and Delightful designed red lamps suspended above the counter height table. The monochromatic geometric pattern of the floor tile brings interest and texture to the space without being too bold.  Most of the furniture is custom made for the space. The white pendant lamps above the dining tables are Funnel by small Slovanian company Vertigo Bird. The wooden dining chairs are by Ton.
