We are pleased to invite you to our first World Class Speaking Night of 2013—in the great surroundings of the Roppongi Hills Club!
These are informal and fun events for people interested in improving their speaking, communication and presentation skills—featuring special guest speakers, World Class Speaking program alumni and some entertainment.
Storytelling: Brand Communication in the 21st Century
Keynote Speaker: Dan Sloan, Head of Nissan Global Media Center
Storytelling has become a key element of effective and successful corporate and brand communication, as well as for marketing in general. Dan Sloan will talk about the impact of digital communications technology and social media on modern-day storytelling and brand communication—and how Nissan has become one of the front runners in using such technologies for its branding and customer communication.
Dan Sloan was hired by Nissan to set up and launch its Global Media Center in April 2011—and now features a dedicated and fully equipped state-of-the-art studio and a team of experienced international media professionals. A graduate of Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism, he has a long and distinguished career in the communication and media industries.
Prior to joining Nissan, Dan held senior executive positions at Thomson Reuters—including Bureau Chief of Reuters Singapore—and at Knight-Ridder Financial News. He is a former President of the Foreign Correspondents Club of Japan and Adjunct Professor of Journalism at Komazawa University. He is also the author of the book Playing to Wiin: Nintendo and the Video Game Industry’s Greatest Comeback (2011).
The formal part of the program will be rounded off by a brief presentation on wines from Argentina—in particular Malbec, its world-famous red wine—followed by a wine tasting! Thereafter enjoy a delicious buffet dinner and drinks, and meet and talk to new people and friends.
