So you decided to take the 365 project, picture-a-day challenge? (Go here to find out what the heck I am talking about and how to get started!) Awesome. Even if you didn’t end up with 365 photos, chances are you have dozens if not hundreds of great photos. Now the question is, what can you do with them? So many fun options! Here are my top 6 picks for cool things to do with your 365 project! (Note: many of these products will start with Insta- like Instagram because it is so super popular right now. BUT all of these things can be made with regular everyday digital pics. Do not despair just because you are not on Instagram!)
1. A kick-butt photo album. This is what I did for my first 365 project in 2012. I turned my photos into a sweet little album and stuck it under the Christmas tree for my husband. It is an absolute treasure highlighting really big moments like birthdays and simple, everyday stuff like a trip to the barber shop. As you probably know there are tons of sites where you can make albums. I chose Blurb and I couldn’t be happier with the results. Also, if you posted any (or all) of your pictures to Facebook or Instagram they make it super easy to grab them for your album. And even if you didn’t, uploading your pics to their site is a breeze!
2. Use an online tool to create a collage and have it printed for you. I recently discovered Persnickety Prints and I am smitten! Want to make a REALLY huge poster? Check out another one of my faves, Printstagram.
3. Follow this tutorial to create your own collage in Photoshop (snag your own copy for $60-something on Amazon! I am planning lots of Photoshop tutorials for 2014 so this will be a good investment.) and print out your collage wherever you like!
4. Create a teeny little picture-a-day calendar.
5. Create a scrapbook! There are many fabulous designers out there that have come up with great kits (digital and paper) for the very purpose of helping you document your 365 project. My two faves are Becky Higgins and Ali Edwards. They both offer a range of products to help you really have some fun with your pictures. Too much to choose from? Consider starting with Becky Higgins’ Project Life Core Kit or Ali Edwards’ (online) 31 Things workshop. Also if you are just beginning a 365 Project for 2014, you might try one of these techniques to create the scrapbook as you go!
6. Want to just slap a picture into a scrapbook each day? Consider using a good old-fashioned Polaroid Instant camera and a delicious Smashbook scrapbook (comes with a handy double-ended pen/glue stick)!
Have you ever done a 365, picture-a-day project? How did you display your pics? We love to make digital slideshows put to music, too! XO, ellie
