Pepper Street in Cape Town’s city centre has recently become home to the new apothecary and artistic perfumery that’s known by the name of Wild Olive.
Proudly South African, the brand was founded in 1997 by a pharmacist and, in 2007, brought under the creative direction of Marioara de la Tara, who still manufactures the products using classic methods and artisanal processes that go as far back as the Khoi-San Himba and Xhosa tribes. The brand includes a variety of beautifully crafted products (for bath, body and home) as well as perfumes – all formulated for sensitive skin.
The intimate boutique remains true to Wild Olive’s signature palette with a monochromatic décor and an old-school apothecary feel. Everything is beautifully displayed, and the scent in the space is characterised by tones of lavender, rose and other precious essential oils. The atmosphere makes for an all-round sensory experience – it’s a reminder of Wild Olive’s core philosophy, rooted in ancient African artistry, which is organic and respectful of the environment.
When in Cape Town, do yourself a favour and pay the space a visit. We fell utterly in love with it.
