Yippee! It’s time for another fun project in the Christmas Present Crochet-Along! You asked for boot cuffs….so I delivered! I hope you’ve enjoy making the matching hat, cowl, and mittens! The boot cuffs are perfect to complete the set don’t you think? I want to see some pictures after Christmas…so don’t forget to show me!

Supplies List:
1. Red Heart Infinity Yarn, 3.5 oz/100 grams, 129 yards, #5 Bulky Yarn, Fiber Content: 69%Acrylic, 11% Wool, 10% Polyester, 6%Nylon, and 4% Metallic – Depending on the size of your boot cuffs, one skein may work, but I’m thinking I would buy at least 2 skeins.
2. Hook – K/6.50mm
3. Tapestry Needle for weaving in the ends
Gauge: 11sc and 10 rows = 4” (Because of the way the boot cuffs are designed, gauge is not critical for this project).
Abbreviations:
ch – chain
dc – double crochet
fpdc – front post double crochet
rem – remaining
sc – single crochet
sl st – slip stitch
st – stitch
Notes:
If you want a bigger or smaller project, make sure the top part of the project is in multiples of 4.
Ch 1 does not count as first st in pattern unless otherwise stated
Ch 2 counts as first hdc in pattern unless otherwise stated (For my sample project, I used a ch 1, stitched in first st regardless of whether is was sc or hdc. I like the look and it didn’t leave any open gaps. It actually gives it a little slant appearance too. Don’t worry…that doesn’t cause any problems when you join the ends. You are welcome to try it but the pattern as written is showing ch 2 counting as your first hdc stitch).
Ch 3 counts as first dc in pattern unless otherwise stated
The boot cuffs are made in two parts. The first part you will crochet is the bottom portion of the cuff which is worked in rows. The second portion of the project is working in the rounds. You will leave a long tail (6-8″) at the beginning of your starting chain to use for joining the ends together with the mattress stitch
Below is the stitch count for the sample you see in the above picture. I thought this would be important because unless you’ve done all the other CAL projects to this set, you wouldn’t know the stitch count changes.Row 1: 8 sts
Row 2: 8 sts
Row 3: 8 sts
I crocheted a total 24 rows (Be sure to use the Chart provided in a link below for your desired size)
Round 1: Crocheting in multiples of 4, I evenly crocheted 28 sts around. (28 sts)
Round 2: 28 sts
Round 3: 56 sts
Round 4: 28 sts

Working in Rows (Bottom Portion of the Boot Cuff)
Leaving a long tail, Ch 9
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook, sc in next ch and each rem ch across. (8 sts)
Row 2: Ch 2 (See Pattern Notes), hdc in next st each rem st across. (8 sts)
Row 3: Ch 1, (See Pattern Notes), sc in first st, sc in next st and each rem st across, ending with last st in top of ch 2. (8 sts)
Repeat Rows 2 and 3 until you have reached your desired length ending with Row 2. (Do NOT Fasten off)
Working in Rounds (Top Portion of the Boot Cuff)
Round 1: With working yarn, join the ends together with a sl st, ch 1, sc in same st, sc evenly around (multiples of 4), join by sl st to first sc.
Round 2: ch 3 (See Pattern Notes), dc in next st and each st around, join with a sl st in top of ch 3.
Round 3: ch 1, sc in same st, 3 fpdc around next st, *sc in next st, 3 fpdc around next st*, repeat around, join with a sl st to first sc.
Round 4: ch 1, sc in same st, *skip next fpdc, sc in next fpdc, skip next fpdc, sc in sc* repeat * to * until last 3 fpdc; skip next fpdc, sc in next fpdc, skip next fpdc, sl st to first sc.
Round 5: Reverse Stitch or also known as Crab Stitch around the top for the grand finishing.
****Should you want more of the design stitch, Repeat Rounds 2-4 until you have reached your desired height then finish off with Round 5.****
Finishing:
-with wrong sides facing, you will use the mattress stitch to join the ends with the long tail. (See Tutorial Notes Above for the Mattress Stitch).
-weave in all ends
