Chloe Valdary: To the Students for Justice in Palestine, a Letter From an Angry Black Woman

The student organization Students for Justice in Palestine (SJP) is prominent on many college campuses, preaching a mantra of “Freeing Palestine.” It masquerades as though it were a civil rights group when it is not. Indeed, as an African-American, I am highly insulted that my people’s legacy is being pilfered for such a repugnant agenda. It is thus high time to expose its agenda and lay bare some of the fallacies they peddle.
• If you seek to promulgate the legacy of early Islamic colonialists who raped and pillaged the Middle East, subjugated the indigenous peoples living in the region, and foisted upon them a life of persecution and degradation—you do not get to claim the title of “Freedom Fighter.”
• If you support a racist doctrine of Arab supremacism and wish (as a corollary of that doctrine) to destroy the Jewish state, you do not get to claim that the prejudices you peddle are forms of legitimate “resistance.”
Brendan O'Neill: Is the Left anti-Semitic? Sadly, it is heading that way

Indeed, some of the most influential trends in Left-wing politics over the past five years – including the Occupy movement and the Wikileaks movement – were both given to conspiracy-theorising and both also had a bit of a problem with anti-Semitism. So Occupy was kickstarted by Adbusters, a magazine convinced that powerful corporations control the masses’ fickle minds. In 2004, Adbusters published a disgustingly anti-Semitic article titled “Why Won’t Anyone Say They Are Jewish?”, which listed the neocons in the Bush administration and put a black mark next to the names of those who are Jewish. Not surprisingly, Occupy itself, which was obsessed with the baleful influence of small cliques of bankers and other faceless, evil people, often crossed the line into anti-Semitism, as the Washington Post reported. And Wikileaks, too, which is also a borderline conspiracy-theory outfit, what with its obsession with the “conspiratorial interactions among the political elite”, has had issues with anti-Semitism: one of its key researchers, Israel Shamir, was exposed by the Guardian as being “notorious for [his] Holocaust denial and publishing a string of anti-Semitic articles”.
It is not an accident that the three key planks of the Left-wing outlook today – the anti-Israel anti-war sentiment, the shallow anti-capitalism of Occupy, and the worship of those who leak info from within the citadels of power – should all have had issues with anti-Semitism. It is because the left, feeling isolated from the public and bereft of any serious means for understanding modern political and economic affairs, has bought into a super-simplistic, black-and-white, borderline David Icke view of the world as a place overrun and ruled by cabals and cults and sinister lobby groups. And who has always, without fail, been the final cabal, the last cult, to find themselves shouldering the ultimate blame for the warped, hidden workings of politics, the economy and foreign turmoil? You got it – the Jews.
Wonder Woman Gal Gadot Slams Hamas 'Cowards' Who Hide Behind Women and Children

The brunette stunner sent out an unapologetic prayer for Israel over the weekend via Facebook. Her social media message didn't end there. She then savaged Hamas for what she called horrific and cowardly behavior.
"I am sending my love and prayers to my fellow Israeli citizens. Especially to all the boys and girls who are risking their lives protecting my country against the horrific acts conducted by Hamas, who are hiding like cowards behind women and children...We shall overcome!!! Shabbat Shalom! #weareright #freegazafromhamas #stopterror #coexistance #loveidf”
Within two days, the post gathered 172,303 “likes” and 4,692 “shares.” In addition, it attracted 15,786 comments – both in support of the Fast and the Furious star (and soon-to-be Wonder Woman) and harshly critical of her in particular, and Israel in general."
Where Orim Almost Gets Lynched

Lucky escape from an attack by Islamic mob on Al Quds Day
Our friend Orim – a pro Israel Arab – decided to turn up at an Al Quds march.
Waving an Israeli flag.
Near-lynch hilarity ensues.
Orim, we admire your bravery, but please be safe.
And if you try a stunt like this again, I will kill you!

Palestinian Christian Defends Israel

Palestinian Christian and co-founder of the Emmaus Group, Christy Anastas, has penned a message to her fellow Palestinians in defense of Israel.
In the opening of the letter, Anastas describes herself as someone who has lived and lost through war and relates directly with the loss and terror of other Palestinians and the people of Israel during this current crisis. She also calls to account the lack of recognition from the media, and others, of the suffering of millions of Israelis at the hands of Hamas, making the implication that Israelis "are not human beings."
"They have not considered how Israel cares for her citizens by building a network of bomb shelters, reinforcing buildings and public structures and providing early warning systems for her people," writes Anastas. She then points out, in contrast, that the leaders of Gaza have only prepared for war rather than protecting their people, using "so much aid by the West."
Douglas Murray: And Now... Europe's Kristallnacht

Certainly, across Europe there is a new hatred in the air -- but this hatred is also the old one. The people on the streets of Paris, Berlin, London, Amsterdam and other cities across Europe include the descendants of some of those who fought against, fought for, allied or collaborated with the evil regime which spurred this hatred on last time. But most of the perpetrators are not those people. Most of them are of immigrant backgrounds. In Britain, these are mainly from the Indian sub-continent (with a smaller group from the Gulf countries); in France and the Netherlands, they are from North Africa; in Germany and Austria, largely from Turkey.
All the peoples of Europe can see this but none of them want to identify it. We live so in terror of being politically incorrect. We live in a rightful disgust for racism of any kind. And yet here we see -- and nowhere more clearly than in Germany -- the new racist nightmare for Europe. We thought we had abolished the beast of anti-Semitism from our shores and had made it totally unacceptable. And yet here are people Europe has imported in their millions, failed in varying degrees to assimilate and who now (in considerable numbers) look as if they have taken up precisely the hatred we had all hoped to have left behind. These are dark days in the Middle East. But they are darker days in Europe. Whether we deal with this returned evil or not will be the challenge of this generation.
‘WTF?’ ‘What standards’? Facebook gives pass to page calling for death to Jews [photo]; Update: Facebook removes page

“Death to zionst baby killer israeli jews” is a real Facebook page:
And as the Washington Examiner’s Philip Klein points out, Facebook is apparently OK with that:
Update: ‘Nice work, everybody!’ Facebook removes anti-Semitic page after social media spanking
Why Zionism is more important than ever before

I’ve always felt safe as a Jew in America.
While anti-Semitic incidents always take place from time to time (swastikas painted on synagogues, tensions between Jews and African American communities in Brooklyn), these have always felt like the exception, and, although disturbing, have not been of life-changing concern for most Jews in this country. But in the past few weeks, this has changed – I no longer feel safe as a Jew in America.
In the past week, pro-Palestinian rallies have been held in major American and European cities – Boston, Chicago, Los Angeles, Paris and London. In each case, these rallies have morphed into anti-Jewish mobs, where slogans such as “Jews back to Birkenau,” and “drop dead you Zionazi whores,” and other anti-Semitic catchphrases are shouted.
Pro-Israel American citizens who have encountered these rallies have been in physical danger. Police have had to intervene, and American Jews have reported being afraid of bodily harm in their own cities. For anyone who thought it couldn’t happen here, it already has.
This feeling of insecurity reminds me of why Zionism was born in the first place, over a hundred years ago.
Why Israel may miss Goldstone

There is a good chance that the UNHRC will make sure to appoint someone this time who will not investigate Hamas or make it an even smaller part of the report.
Finally, while the UNHRC undoubtedly had hoped that Goldstone's Jewish credentials would be a fig-leaf for the report, Goldstone himself ultimately repudiated much of his own reports findings and the interpretations that others gave to it.
This also hurt the report's power to pressure Israel legally.
There is a very high chance that the UNHRC will make sure not to appoint anyone who might have second thoughts over their criticism of Israel.
UN refuses to apologize for advocating cement used for terror tunnels

Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon
Secretary-General’s remarks to International Conference on the Palestinian Economy and Gaza Reconstruction, 02.03.2009
“Construction materials and spare parts are needed to repair damaged water and sanitation systems. There is no concrete or steel to build homes or shelters…”
Secretary-General’s remarks to the Ministerial Meeting of the Security Council on the situation in the Middle East, 11.05.2009
“I call on Israel to respond positively to repeated calls to allow glass, cement and building materials into Gaza. ”
“The Secretary-General added that the policy of the continued closure of Gaza does not weaken Israel’s adversaries, but instead does untold damage to the fabric of civilian life. In that context, he called on Israel to allow glass, cement and building materials into Gaza.”
Open Letter to Anti-Semites

Dear anti-Semite,
I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart. Although it is not your intention, your words and actions are helping to rebuild my homeland, Israel.
Whenever you go on a vicious protest, or call for Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions; or send out a revolting tweet, though it saddens my heart, you make Israel stronger. Diaspora Jewry, who are otherwise comfortable in their jobs and in their homes, are realizing that there is only one place in the entire world that makes them feel wanted.
To Be a Jew in France Today

Today I ask myself troubling questions. Does my public expression of Judaism endanger my safety and that of my children? Might showing my support for Israel generate threats? Am I being a responsible parent by raising my children in this country?
My fears reached a high point on the eve of Bastille Day, and a day later on the anniversary of the Vel D’Hiv roundup of French Jews by the puppet Vichy government for transport to Auschwitz. On July 12 and 13, during a massive pro-Palestinian demonstration in Paris, several groups spread out to synagogues in the middle of Paris to threaten the Jews inside, while in Aulnay sous Bois, outside the capital, a synagogue was hit with Molotov cocktails. The mobs chanted “Death to the Jews,” and a politician from the Green party said it was “not surprising that synagogues are attacked when they support Israel’s policy.”
How to Talk About the Gaza Conflict

As the Gaza conflict moves into its third week, a number of contentious issues have emerged. A great deal has been said and written about these issues, and some of the best pieces have been collected below.
1. The moral basis for Israel’s military campaign.
2. Palestinian civilian casualties.
3. Hamas terror tunnels
4. Rockets discovered in two UNWRA schools.
Wiesenthal Center Calls on Al Jazeera to Cover Qatari Sheikh Who Preached ‘Allah, Kill All the Jews, Freeze the Blood in Their Veins’

Jewish human rights group The Simon Wiesenthal Center on Sunday challenged Doha-based Al Jazeera to report on a Qatari Sheikh who preached, “Allah, kill all the Jews, freeze the blood in their veins,” as broadcast on Qatar TV.
“Against the backdrop of supercharged anti-Jewish rhetoric sweeping the Arab and Muslim world, we believe that the leading Arab TV network should tackle the issue head-on,” said Rabbis Marvin Hier and Abraham Cooper, Dean and Founder and Associate Dean of the SWC.
What about Turkey and Cyprus?‎

When it comes to the allegations of using "disproportionate force," Turkey should ‎be the last one to condemn others; it has rich experience and great expertise in the very crimes that it projects onto others. ‎
Is it not ironic that on the same day that Turkey celebrates a "peace" operation, an invasion as far ‎as the rest of the world is concerned, which killed thousands, destroyed cultural treasures of ‎immense historical value, displaced hundreds of thousands of people, and ethnically cleansed ‎the northern part of the island by force, it condemns Israel's military operation in Gaza, calling for all ‎sorts of punitive measures to be taken against the Jewish state?‎
Hamas threatening journalists in Gaza who expose abuse of civilians

Officials in Jerusalem said incidents like these underline Israel’s claim that Hamas doesn’t shy away from violence to control the flow of information out of Gaza and that the terrorist group intimidates and threatens journalists in the Strip who seek to report objectively about the conflict.
“We have no doubt that Hamas, through coercion and violence, limits the freedom of foreign journalists in Gaza,” an Israeli official told The Times of Israel. “Walking around Gaza with a camera and asking people what they think is not like walking around New York or London. People are not free to say their true opinions. It’s a bit like asking Syrians in government-controlled areas of Damascus if they like President [Bashar] Assad.”
Hamas has indisputably used violence against reporters who have covered stories it doesn’t like, the official said. And it has emphatically limited reporters’ access to aspects of Hamas operations that would reflect to its detriment. One example of this relates to Gaza’s Shifa hospital, the official added. “We know that downstairs there is a Hamas command and control center and that Hamas leaders are hiding there. No reporter is allowed to go anywhere downstairs. They’re only allowed to work upstairs to take pictures of casualties, the pictures that Hamas wants them to take.”
Simon Cowell Under Fire for Donation to Israeli Army

Cowell gave $150,000 to the Friends of the Israeli Defense Forces last year, but the donation is only now hitting the news cycle, according to YNET News.
"As a result, Cowell began receiving images of dead Palestinian children on Twitter and has been accused of helping Israel invade Gaza.
One of the tweets said Cowell has "blood on your hands," while another comment included a picture of a father holding his dead baby and read: "You donated money to Israel to do this. Now imagine this was your child."
A spokesman for Cowell, who is Christian, declined to comment on the matter to YNET News.
Hamas' media strategy is faltering

Hamas still hopes that these bloody images will do the trick, which is why it is still trying to drive up the number of casualties by ordering civilians to stand on buildings' rooftops, preventing people from leaving bombarded neighborhoods, and firing at Israeli troops from the cover of hospitals and schools. If anything, Hamas seems more confident in its use of human shields.
This time, however, the international community is aware of Hamas' nefarious tactics, thanks to the intensive reporting by foreign correspondents on the ground and Israel's public diplomacy efforts. This exposure has prompted European foreign ministers to protest Hamas' use of human shields.
Moreover, the rise in anti-Semitic attacks against Jews in Europe have prompted Germany and France to bar anti-Israeli demonstrations at this time, while numerous European nations have expressed their unequivocal support for Israel's right to self-defense.
The Australian, Editorial: Reports from Gaza need a more balanced perspective

While concentrating on the plight of Gaza’s long-suffering citizens, few reports pay comparable attention to Hamas’s rocket attacks on Israel’s main cities. Terrorists have fired more than 11,000 rockets into Israel since it withdrew from Gaza as a sign of good faith in 2005. About 1700 rockets have been fired since June when three Israeli teenagers were kidnapped and murdered at the outset of the present conflict. Up to 150 rockets are bombarding Israel daily, with five million Israelis living under the threat of attack. Casualties have been low because of the powerful Iron Dome air defence system. But daily life in Israel and Tel Aviv’s international airport have been disrupted badly.
Hamas has not been held properly accountable, either, for its despicable practice of using residential areas in Gaza as fortresses, stockpiling rockets and other weapons in and around homes, playgrounds, hospitals, mosques and schools. Apologists for Hamas deny it uses ordinary citizens as human shields. But that judgment is highly doubtful. This week, a stash of rockets was discovered in a building between two UN schools housing 3000 displaced Palestinians. Deliberate or not, the collateral damage inflicted on Palestinian families by Hamas has been vast. They deserve far better.

NBC Reporter Frets Over Hamas Getting 'Nothing' in Cease-Fire With Israel

On Monday's NBC Today, chief foreign correspondent Richard Engel worried that Hamas was not getting enough out of a temporary cease-fire agreement with Israel: "What is Hamas getting in return? So far, nothing. No deal, no immediate lifting of the closure of the Gaza Strip. Just a reprieve from Israel's assault that has flattened entire Gaza neighborhoods and killed more than a thousand Palestinians, many of them civilians, many of them children." [Listen to the audio or watch the video after the jump]
Engel continued to outline the demands from the Palestinian terrorist organization: "The war could easily escalate again. Hamas wants an agreement to end the fighting, not for Israel to unilaterally scale back the assault on its own terms." (h/t MtTB)
Sky News asks admitted anti-Semite her views on the rise of UK antisemitism!

Bar-Hillel claims that the failure of British Jews to speak out about Israeli ‘crimes’ in Gaza is what causes antisemitism – a perfect example of holding Jews collectively responsible for actions of the state of Israel, an accusation defined as antisemitic by the EUMC Working Definition.
The female Sky News co-host asks a follow-up question (at roughly the 1:40 mark) to Bar-Hillel which parrots the claim that Jews label all criticism of Israel antisemitic.
Neither Sky News host challenges her when she smears the UK Jewish community, by suggesting that British Jews are culpable for not speaking out against Israel.
Neither Sky News host challenges her claim (at roughly the 5:05 mark) that the only reason why the West supports Israel is because of guilt over the Holocaust.
More broadly, note that in a Sky News program about antisemitism, they didn’t seek the expertise of The CST (the British charity tasked with protecting Jews against antisemitism), or any official body which actually represents UK Jews, but, rather, a marginal commentator who has admitted to not being part of the Jewish community. If, for instance, they would have asked representatives from The CST, they would have provided data demonstrating that antisemitism has indeed increased in the UK since the beginning of the war.
CNN’s Erin Burnett Still Failing At Fairness In Gaza Coverage

Burnett did respond to Dermer’s accusation that CNN had not reported at all that rockets were stored in UNRWA schools. Burnett and her staff, apparently, reviewed forty-eight hours’ worth of CNN coverage. Forty-eight hours during which CNN has focused intensely on the Gaza conflict. From that 48 hour period, she was able to come up with exactly three sentences in which CNN stated that rockets had been found in UNRWA schools. Burnett then cut to her guest, CNN reporter Karl Penhaul, who said that “each side has its own version of the truth,” as though a statement from the UN Secretary General is somehow Israel’s version of the truth.
Perhaps the most telling point in the two pieces, however, is Burnett’s reaction when Dermer first brings up the issue. At about 49 seconds into the first video, Burnett’s reaction indicates that even she was unaware of the UN’s discovery of rockets in its schools. If Burnett, a supposed journalist, whose job it is to at least be aware of what is being reported on her own network, by her own colleagues, was unaware that the UN had found rockets stored in two different UNRWA schools that week, how could she possibly expect that the information was conveyed in such a way that casual viewers would absorb it? Clearly, the information was glossed over, and insufficient attention was paid to this story. Burnett’s own ignorance of the facts belies her assertions that the story was given the coverage that it deserved.
Madrid Jews to ‘defend’ against author who justified expulsions

Antonio Gala, an award-winning playwright and author, made the statement in an op-ed which was published on July 23 by the Spanish daily El Mundo.
“It’s not strange that they have been so frequently expulsed,” he wrote about the Jewish people in his 233-word article. ”What is surprising, is that they persist. Either they are not good, or someone is poisoning them. I am not a racist.”
In a letter to the editor of El Mundo, David Hatchwell, president of the Madrid Jewish Community, vowed to “invoke [legal] protection with all our vigor” against Gala, whom he said has a history of penning texts which were deemed offensive to Jews.
UK media fail to report evidence contradicting presumption of IDF guilt in UN school deaths

On July 25th we posted about the UK media’s rush to judgement after 15 Palestinian civilians were reportedly killed at a UNWRA school in the Gaza city of Beit Hanoun last Thursday. The Guardian, Independent, The Times, The Telegraph, Daily Mail, and Daily Mirror were among the publications which immediately blamed Israel hours after the incident, despite the dearth of evidence at the time.
Two BBC programmes claim criticism of Israel brings accusations of antisemitism

So there we go: two ‘cultured’ BBC radio programmes in one weekend – both of which include promotion of the notion that it is not possible to criticize Israel without being accused of antisemitism – with one of the speakers making his own none-too-veiled insinuations based on the ‘Jewish power’ trope and another who – through her claim that Hamas is like the French Resistance and her comparison of Israel’s non-existent occupation of Gaza with that of Germany in France in WWII – using a Nazi analogy.
Could it get more surreal than that?
Unhindered promotion of PSC speaker’s propaganda by BBC News

The next time the opaquely funded, Hamas supporting, Palestine Solidarity Campaign complains about supposed BBC bias in favour of Israel (and let’s face it – that won’t take long), it may be worth reminding them of an item which appeared on BBC television news on July 26th and was also promoted on the BBC News website’s Middle East page under the title “London rally will ‘boost morale of Palestinians in Gaza’“.
In that report on a rally held on the same date in London (at which antisemitic imagery and messaging were in open use, although there is no reporting on that in this item), presenter Keith Doyle interviewed Yousef al Helou – currently a Reuters Journalist Fellow at Oxford University. Doyle made no effort whatsoever to counter the inaccuracies, falsehoods and propaganda spouted by al Helou, who claims not to be a Hamas supporter but all the same seems to have no qualms about doing a speaking tour for the PSC which does support and enable that terrorist organisation.

Israelis Models Do Their Part to Support the IDF

As the conflict between Israel and Gaza lumbers on into its 21st day, Israelis across the world have shown solidarity with their fellow countrymen. While most Israelis have congregated in public displays of support numbering in the tens of thousands, some more internationally visible Israelis have taken to social media.
Bar Refaeli took a somber moment to remember fallen soldiers who’ve paid the ultimate price to ensure Israeli’s safety.
Flash mob siren staged in Vienna

Hundreds of young people hit the deck in three major squares in Vienna on July 24. No, they weren’t part of one of the popular anti-Israel “die-in” protests found in major cities around the globe. These youth were face down in support of Israelis citizens under fire of Hamas missiles.
A video of the flash mob of the simulated Hamas missile attack has garnered some 31,000 views since its posting on YouTube late last week. In it, hundreds of youth drop to the ground and seek cover in 15 seconds or less as a siren sounds in a Viennese public square.
Thousands March in French City of Marseille in Support of Israel

Thousands took to the streets of Marseille in the south of France on Sunday to show their support for Israel, the first such demonstration in the country since the start of the recent fighting in Gaza, organizers said.
Some 2,000 pro-Israeli demonstrators, carrying French and Israeli flags, were separated by riot police from a few dozen pro-Palestinian protesters chanting anti-Israeli slogans in Marseille’s Old Port in the center of the Mediterranean city.
“We are here to show our solidarity with Israel, which has been attacked and has a right to defend itself,” William Labi, head of the body governing Jewish congregations in Marseille, told Reuters. The protest was also organized by the community’s umbrella group CRIF.
EXCLUSIVE: British Local Authority Collaborates with Pro-Hamas Pressure Group in 'Solidarity' Fundraiser

Preston City Council, which is run by the Labour Party, was forced to change its plans to fly the Palestinian flag over the town hall following protests and complaints. Breitbart London can now reveal that the group the council was working with has previously hosted meetings in which they express open and vocal support for the terrorist group Hamas.
Council leader Peter Rankin said: "I am pleased to be able to demonstrate our sympathy with the Palestinians through raising their flag over the town hall. We are also exploring other ways in which we can help and support Gaza.”
But the initial plans had to be altered following complaints. Instead the Palestinian flag flew for just four minutes before being replaced. The flag is then reported to have been auctioned off, raising around £1,500 and perhaps therefore making the council complicit in fundraising with a pro-Hamas organisation.
Bomb threat in Mumbai over Gaza operation

The letter, sent on July 25, was signed by the terrorist group Indian Mujahideen (IM).
“We will take revenge for Gaza,” the letter said, according to the Hindustan Times.
“Maria you were lucky in 1993 to have escaped the wrath but this time you will not. Now we are going to carry a blast and it is a challenge for you if you can stop, stop it. Mujahideen,” it continued, referring to a series of 13 bombs that exploded in Mumbai, then called Bombay, and that killed over 250 people. Maria was involved in the investigation and subsequent arrest of suspects in the case.
Toulouse Jewish center firebombed after anti-Israel protest in area

Police in Toulouse arrested a man who hurled three firebombs at a Jewish community center and the officers guarding it.
The incident happened Saturday, one hour after the conclusion of a demonstration against Israel’s actions against Hamas in Gaza, the AFP news agency reported.
The man, who was not named, threw two firebombs over the center’s fence and a third at the officers but none of the bombs successfully ignited. He also hurled stones at the Espace du Judaisme center, which contains a synagogue, a library and a lecture room, among other facilities.
Wiesenthal Center Calls for Dutch PM to Intervene After Anti-Semitic ISIS Rally; Protesters Threaten to Kill ‘Dirty Jews from the Sewers’ (VIDEO)

In a fiery letter to Rutte, Dr. Shimon Samuels, SWC Director for International Relations, said similar calls of violence were reported at a rally on July 4, and show that rather than even expressing support for Hamas militants in Gaza, the true intention of the rallies have been to call for the death of Jews.
“Yesterday, the call in Arabic and Dutch was for ‘dirty Jews from the sewers to be killed,’” Samuels said. “This rally had little to do with Gaza solidarity. It was unambiguously targeted against Jews, but also according to the Dutch press sought to lynch journalists, who were pulled to safety by the police, otherwise serving as silent spectators.”
He said that what was “most disturbing” was that, while press reports and photos from the rally show the mass of masked demonstrators calling for violence, the official Public Prosecutor’s press release stated “there were only 40 to 50 people present,” that “the police were present with an Arabic speaking police officer” and “the slogans overheard by this officer were not considered as crossing boundaries. Hence no arrest was made.”
Denmark Responds to Muslim Anti-Semitism by Shutting Down Israeli Peace Rally

And now a pro-Israel rally was shut down.
Also on Friday, police in Copenhagen cut short a demonstration of support for Israel and peace in the Middle East that the Danish Zionist Organization had organized near parliament with a group of Iranian dissidents, according to an account of the event by Vilhjalmur Orn Vilhjalmsson, an Iceland-born academic who attended the rally.
“The police couldn’t guarantee any longer the security of the participants in the rally, due to increasing threats from young Muslim troublemakers who were clustering in ever louder and violent groups nearby and even driving past in their cars shouting anti-Semitic slogans and waving Hamas flags,” he wrote on his blog.
He filmed several young men shouting “f**king Jews” at the demonstrators. (h/t Canadian Otter)
Andrew Bolt: The ancient Jew-hatred returns

The anti-Semitism behind the rallies against Israel is unmistakable.
Here are protesters in Melbourne last weekend:
This cartoon, used by the Sydney Morning Herald to advertise more poison from Mike Carlton, trades on some dangerously familiar stereotypes, too:
Why does the Left only protest when Muslims killed by Jews?
After all, Muslims are killing Muslims far more horribly:
Yet the only killing in the wide world that protesters in Australia condemned last weekend was Jews fighting back against the terrorists who have fired more than 2000 rockets at Israeli civilians.
Why this so-selective outrage? I can think of only one credible explanation, and it’s deeply sinister.
Bloodthirsty Islamists infested Toronto's Queen's Park

They come every year for their al Quds Day rally, to call for the elimination of Israel. This year, the turnout was bolstered by the conflagration in Gaza caused by Hamas launching missiles at Israel, and their rage at the pesky Jews' refusal to die en masse. They also came to spew venom at Canada for not being supportive of their murderous aspirations.
They came bearing pictures of Ayatollah Khomeini, the depraved dictator of Iran who sanctioned the systematic rape of female political prisoners, and with the flags of terror groups like Hezbollah.
They were accompanied by a small handful of useful idiot radical leftists, and a few pathetic creatures from the bizarre, inbred, apocalyptic Jewish cult Neutrei Karta. But though they were there in numbers as many as five thousand, almost all of them were South Asian Shia Muslims and Arabs, devotees of the most vicious dictatorships on earth.
Muslims Against Jews – Toronto Al-Quds Day 2014

Yesterday’s Al-Quds rally in Toronto was another sad proof of how rapidly Canada is deteriorating. Twenty years ago nobody in boring Toronto could’ve imagined that we will see a huge crowd of Muslim fanatics right in front of the Provincial Parliament carrying terrorist flags and photos of terrorist leaders while chanting anti-Semitic slogans.
They didn’t occupy the park illegally – they received an official permit, though the government knew that last year they did the same and called for shooting the Jews in Jerusalem. All attempts to cancel the rally were rejected on the ground that it contributes to our “diversity.”
They were screaming at us: F*ck the Jews, f*ck Jesus, f*ck Christians etc. So much for the apology.

Yesterday the pro-Palestinian protesters in Calgary held another protest in front of the new City Hall. The “mainstream media” reported that the protesters apologized for the beating of the pro-
Israelite protesters that occurred on July 18th.
What they did not want you to know is that after this so called apology yesterday, some of the pro-Palestinian protesters came again to the church uttering threats and declaring that they will kill us all. Because the church had, like always, for the past 8 years an Israeli flag with them. Some of the “terrorists” wear masks covering their faces and with their hands and with their fingers close to their throats were showing to all of us how they are going to cut our throats.
They were screaming at us: F*ck the Jews, f*ck Jesus, f*ck christians etc.
Will Hobart College continue to allow anti-Israel faculty boycott group HQ on campus?

The anti-Israel academic boycott movement has been under the radar the past month, but that doesn’t mean it hasn’t been working to destroy academic freedom where it can.
Two small academic groups recently were added to the short list of academic professional organizations boycotting Israel.
The Critical Ethnic Studies Association recently endorsed the academic boycott of Israel. This should not be much of a surprise given that when CESA was formed in 2012, one of its first acts was to plan how to help the anti-Israel academic and cultural boycott movement. CESA previously supported the boycott passed by the American Studies Association. CESA represents just about everything that has gone wrong with academia, as expressed in its mission statement:
Al Qaeda Terrorist Supporters Working ADL Summer Camp

How would you feel if you sent your son or daughter to an Anti-Defamation League summer camp only to find out that the camp’s youth coordinators are supporters of a convicted Al Qaeda terrorist?
Brothers Bilal and Ammaar Mirza have been involved with Anti-Defamation League’s (ADL’s) Camp Interfaith in beautiful Andover, New Hampshire since they were teenagers, first as campers and then as staffers. Yet at the very same time, they have also been active in a Boston area extremist Islamist movement that is viciously anti-American and tinged with anti-Semitism, a movement that has coalesced around the cause of a local jihadist celebrity, Tarek Mehanna.
A True Story of Gratitude

I was instrumental in establishing the "Israeli National Skin Bank", which is the largest in the world. The National Skin Bank stores skin for every day needs as well as for wartime or mass casualty situations. This skin bank is hosted at the Hadassah Ein Kerem University hospital in Jerusalem where I was the chairman of plastic surgery.
This is how I was asked to supply skin for an Arab woman from Gaza, who was hospitalized in Soroka Hospital in Beersheva, after her family burned her. Usually, such atrocities happen among Arab families when the women are suspected of having an affair.
We supplied all the needed Homografts for her treatment. She was successfully treated by my friend and colleague, Prof. Lior Rosenberg and discharged to return to Gaza.
She was invited for regular follow-up visits to the outpatient clinic in Beersheva.
One day she was caught at a border crossing wearing a suicide belt. She meant to explode herself in the outpatient clinic of the hospital where they saved her life. It seems that her family promised her that if she did that, they would forgive her.
This is only one example of the war between Jews and Muslims in the Land of Israel. It is not a territorial conflict. This is a civilization conflict, or rather a war between civilization & barbarism.
Israelis call out racists, those who want soldiers dead

In what seems to be a full-fledged online battle between opposing ideologues, social media activists on all sides of the political spectrum have engaged in a fierce, unprecedented campaign aimed at publicly exposing internet users who have voiced what they deem to be hateful, racist or inflammatory comments online.
As the number of Palestinians and Israelis killed during the IDF’s operation in the Gaza Strip continues to rise, right-wing groups have systematically tracked down Facebook and Twitter users, mostly Arab Israelis, who rejoiced in the deaths of Israeli soldiers, and demanded of employers to immediately remove such persons from their positions.
Israeli Arab Teacher Who Called Jews ‘Nazi Murderers’ Keeps Her Job

Niilm al-Khalili, an Arab teacher of Hebrew linguistics and literature in the Al Huda high school in Ramle, called Jews “Nazi fascists” who are “murderers exactly like Hitler”, was summoned to a hearing but will continue to work as a teacher.
The incitement was exposed on Arab Knesset Member Ahmed Tibi’s Facebook page following a post by the Knesset member in which he condemned current IDF operations in Gaza. Al-Khalili responded by posting: “Ahmed Tibi, you’re a great man, we appreciate and respect you. In all likelihood, the Fascist, Nazi Jews are just repeating what happened in the Holocaust, they murder just like Hitler did to them.” She further wrote that, “To all the racists out there, first go and learn your own history and see where you came from. Part of you from Auschwitz, part of you from Romania, Russia and even the Arab countries (where Muslims defended you against the Nazis). A people without a culture.”
Attorney General Axes Criminal Investigation Against Hanin Zoabi

An investigation will not be opened up against MK Hanin Zoabi (Balad), Deputy Attorney General Raz Nizri announced to the Knesset Committee for Interior Affairs Monday - despite widespread condemnation of her comments supporting Hamas terrorism.
According to Nizri, the Attorney General's Office concluded that Zoabi's comments were not incitement "in all its manifestations."
Could Artificial Island Solve Gaza Problem?

Transportation Minister Yisrael Katz has unveiled a proposal that he believes could allow Israel to fully disengage from Gaza, without compromising its security.
“For years, I have been calling for a ‘civilian disengagement’ plan. Stop providing electricity, water, gas, food, and all kinds of other things, demilitarize Gaza – no missiles and tunnels – and create a border between Israel and Gaza,” he explained.
Instead, he said, Gaza should have its own airport and port – but with special arrangements.
“We should open the Rafiah crossing between Gaza and Egypt for an intermediate period, for goods and people to pass through, with supervision,” he said.
“At the same time, we should initiate the creation of an artificial island at sea, under international supervision and with international funding, roughly 4.5 kilometers off the Gaza coast,” he continued. A model for the project has already been created, he noted. (h/t Alexi)
Google Creates a Palestinian State

Until last Thursday, the Palestinian edition of Google read “Palestinian territories” but toward the end of last week they changed the site's name to “Palestine," in a move indicating that the supposedly non-political website was getting involved in politics. The use of Palestine is inaccurate, as the final status of the Palestinian Territories has not been determined through negotiations. Recent negotiations were sidelined because Palestinian President Abbas chose to make a partnership with the same Hamas terrorist group that is sending rockets into Israel.
Gaza’s Millionaires and Billionaires — How Hamas’s Leaders Got Rich Quick

In 1995 the US arrested Abu Marzouk for activities supporting terrorism and after two years in jail, he was deported without trial. But he kept the money. “This man was worth several millions already in 1997, when he was expelled,” Elad says. “Somehow he managed to elude the IRS and a trial for his offenses. Some say he made contacts in the administration. It is not proven, but it is hard to find another reason for how he managed to get away with such heavy accusations against him.”
“In 200, during the 9/11 probe, it was found that he had ties with al Qaeda including money transfers made to the 21 al Qaeda operatives accused of carrying out the attack.”
Today, Abu Marzouk is one of the major billionaires in Hamas. “Arab estimates peg his fortune at 2-3 billion dollars,” Elad says. Another senior-official-turned-terror-tycoon is Khaled Mashaal, head of Hamas’s political wing. “Global estimates say Mashaal is worth $2.6 billion,” but Arab commentators, with other sources, say he is worth between 2 and 5 billion, “invested in Egyptian banks and Gulf countries, some in real estate projects.”
Heads on sticks: Sick ISIS video emerges showing 50 beheaded Syrian soldiers being impaled on poles and held aloft in Raqqa city

Islamist militants have reportedly beheaded dozens of soldiers at a Syrian army base and mounted their heads on poles.
Extremists from the group Islamic State, previously known as ISIS, seized the base in the northern province of Raqqa leaving more than 85 soldiers dead and 200 more unaccounted for.
The Syrian Human Rights Observatory said at least 50 of the soldiers had been executed - many of them beheaded - as horrifying footage began circulating online which appeared to show the bodies.
Wiesenthal questioned on exhibit omission

The Simon Wiesenthal Center, whose mission is to fight antisemitism, faced questions last week at a B'nai B'rith symposium in Israel about its failure to include Jews from Arab countries in the UNESCO exhibition, People, Book, Land: the Jewish people's 3, 500 year-old relationship with the Holy Land.
Dr Shimon Samuels, director for International Relations, explained that the exhibition marked the first time since 1947 that a UN agency had recognised Israel as a Jewish state. It was an occasion to 'put our cards on the table'. He admitted that Wiesenthal had lost its fight to include the words 'Land of Israel' in the title. He blamed Arab-Israeli politics.
The exhibition, which Arab countries had tried to get cancelled altogether, was only one battle of many.
Of the failure to include a panel on Jews from Arab countries, however, Dr Samuels said nothing.
Hungary's Rome Envoy-to-Be Withdraws after Anti-Semitic Comments

Hungary's choice to become ambassador to Italy has backed down amid mounting international protest against his appointment because of anti-Semitic statements.
"Peter Szentmihalyi Szabo informed the Foreign Affairs Ministry he doesn't wish to be ambassador," the ministry said in a statement Friday.
The 69-year-old writer and commentator with links to the far-right media had raised eyebrows in Hungary, after media outlets extensively quoted his most controversial work.
He referred to Jews as "agents of Satan" in an article in 2000 for the far-right publication Magyar Forum, and has written a poem in praise of Magyar Garda, the now disbanded paramilitary wing of Hungary's far-right Jobbik party.
Rockets can’t keep Jesse Eisenberg away

The actor, who will appear as Lex Luthor in the upcoming “Batman Versus Superman” superflick, alongside Israeli actress Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, appeared in Tel Aviv last weekend at a Hebrew-language version of the play “The Revisionist.”
Eisenberg starred alongside Vanessa Redgrave in the original US version of that play, and following the Tel Aviv production, he joined in a Q&A on stage.
“If there was any sign that I would be endangered somehow, I would have hesitated to come, but that wasn’t the case,” The Hollywood Reporter quoted Eisenberg as saying. “Israel is a wonderful country, and it is an unfortunate time, of course, for people living here, but for me this has been a very good week.”
Eisenberg told the audience he plans to fit in a few day trips to Jerusalem and the north during his time, as well.
Night-vision system ready for Hamas tunnel terror

It was an invasion of Israel by 13 heavily armed terrorists emerging near Kibbutz Sufa from a tunnel Hamas dug from Gaza that helped set off the current IDF ground operation in Gaza — and the night-vision technology used by the IDF detected the movement of the terrorists and allowed soldiers to foil the dangerous attack.
Now, that life-saving technology is available to local security officials and even individuals, says the Israeli vision-tech company Opgal. As news of the Hamas terror tunnels spreads, there has been a significant uptick in interest in Opgal’s low-cost Android-based night-vision system, said company CEO Amit Mattatia. “While we haven’t done a poll of why potential customers are considering buying one of our systems, there has been a definite and significant spike of interest in our technology since news of the thwarted tunnel attacks came out,” he told The Times of Israel.
Israeli firms get funding, buyout offers despite war

Israeli companies are still making their mark abroad, despite the conflict with Hamas terrorists. Two international concerns are dedicating funds to a local enterprise and snapping another in a buyout — undeterred by the rockets from Gaza, Israel’s military campaign there, and the often hostile media coverage.
In the latest deals, Ness Ziona-based Atox Bio announced that it has received $23 million in funding for its “flesh-eating bacteria” treatment, and California’s Newport Corporation announced that it was acquiring V-Gen, a Tel Aviv company that makes a range of laser products, including advanced fiber lasers, which use fiber optics to generate a higher quality and more accurate laser beam.
Israel ranks 'very high' on UN human development index

Israel ranks 19th in the world in the United Nations' Human Development Index for 2014, according to the U.N.'s 2014 Human Development Report released Thursday.
Israel is among 49 nations the report ranks as having "very high human development." The report ranks some 187 countries as having "very high," "high," "medium" or "low" human development. The top 10 countries, in order, are: Norway, Australia, Switzerland, Netherlands, United States, Germany, New Zealand, Canada, Singapore and Denmark. Israel, in 19th position, is preceded by Liechtenstein and followed by France.
Jewish Schindler rescues Iranian Christians, Syrians and Iraqis

The Canadian-Jewish philanthropist Yank Barry, dubbed the Jewish Schindler, moved closer to his goal of rescuing 1,200 refugees from the war-torn Middle East, the same number of Jews that Oskar Schindler saved during the Holocaust.
In a Skype interview on Wednesday from the outskirts of Sofia ,Bulgaria, Barry told The Jerusalem Post he has provided refuge for 782 people from the Middle East. Most of the refugees are from Syria.
In sign of reciprocity, he said “the Syrian refugees delivered 200,000 liters of water” to Bulgarians affected by flooding and a severe heat wave.
He has spent $3 million on securing two hotels to lodge the residents.
