Olympic Gold Medalist Greg Louganis Joins Let’s Stop HIV Together
We are excited to announce that four-time Olympic gold medalist Greg Louganis joined the Let’s Stop HIV Together campaign in late 2013 to encourage others to raise HIV awareness and decrease stigma. Greg has lived with HIV since 1988 and has long been an advocate and spokesperson for HIV/AIDS testing. Check out the newsletter to see Greg’s new video and poster.
National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day
February 7, 2014, marks the 14th year for National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day (NBHAAD). Because HIV continues to devastate black communities, NBHAAD encourages members of the black community to get educated, get tested, and if found to be HIV positive, get treated. Act Against AIDS is a five-year national initiative launched by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the White House to combat complacency about HIV and AIDS in the United States. Launched in 2009, Act Against AIDS focuses on raising awareness among all Americans and reducing the risk of infection among the hardest-hit populations – gay and bisexual men, African Americans, and Latinos.
