Gong Xi Fa Cai! Let's usher in the Year of the Red Fire Rooster with the scrumptious selection of oriental-inspired delights at Lai Ching Yuen, Grand Millennium Kuala Lumpur. The wonderful array of scrumptious “Yee Sang”(raw fish salad) in the private yet cosy, avant-garde Lai Ching Yuen restaurant is available from now till the 13 February 2017.
The restaurant spearheaded by Chef Terrence Foong, promises an assortment of delicious traditional Chinese New Year 9 course set menus that start from RM1888.00 for a table of ten. The set menus offer different choices of Yee Sang selections such as Green Apple, Pear & Mango Yee Sang, Crispy Fish Skin Yee Sang, Sliced Norwegian Salmon Yee Sang, Soft Shell Crab Yee Sang, Sliced Abalone Yee Sang, and a must try special Yee Sang with Soba Noodle, Grilled Chicken and Smoked Duck.
To compliment the delectable array of the Yee Sang set menus, Lai Ching Yuen also offers a wide range of carefully crafted traditional Chinese dishes from the a’la carte menu. The highlight dishes for this auspicious month are Double Boiled Dried Scallop Soup with Chinese Cabbage, Ten Head Mini Abalone and Stewed Dried Seafood with Black Moss and Dried Oysters.

Double-boiled Shark's Fin Soup with Crabmeat and Assorted Seafood
Rich and flavourful soup served piping hot and loaded with crabmeats.
Wok-fried Prawns "Bei Fong Tong" Style
One of the signature dishes at Lai Ching Yuen, the fresh prawns fried with garlic and chili were aromatic and tasty.
Steamed White Cat Fish with Minced Ginger
Perfectly steamed, the superb fresh river fish has a subtle sweetness with firm texture. The minced ginger and premium soy sauce complimented the fish nicely.
Roasted Crispy Chicken "Pi Pa" Style with Prawn Crackers
The chicken was highly aromatic, tender and juicy.
Stir-fried Hong Kong Kailan topped with Enoki Mushroom
One of my favourite dishes of the evening, the air-flown fresh from Hong Kong kai lan was especially good, crunchy and sweet. Topped with deep fried crispy enoki mushroom, it was simply addictive.
Fried Rice with Assorted Chinese Waxed Meat wrapped in Lotus Leaf
Aromatic and flavourful the rice was generously laden with waxed meat.
New Year "Nian Gao" Dual Variation
Beautifully presented, the dessert is the perfect end to our sumptuous meal.
Double-boiled White Fungus with Longan and Sea Coconut
We were also served the refreshing and delicious in-house made cocktail, infused for over 48 hours.
This is definitely one of the best Chinese New Year menu previews I've had so far. Everything was so good and perfect. For those who prefer buffet, you can check out the special Chinese New Year buffet offerings at The Mill Cafe.
