NAVRATRI – SIGNIFICANCE AND IMPORTANCE
Each of the navratri nine days is dedicated to the worship of different forms of the Mother Goddess which unfolds the main religious importance of the navratri occasion 2015. Though Goddess is one, but godess is represented and worshipped in the three different aspects. Durga Is Worshipped On the first three days of the Navratri festival. On the following three, Lakshmi is worshipped and Sarasvati on the last three days. Tenth day is called Vijayadashami. Vijaya means victory that is the victory over our own minds that can come through the worship of Goddess Durga.
Navratri festival 2015 lasts for nine whole days. However, each day has a special significance and is celebrated separately. Along with the nine forms of Durga, obeisance is paid to the Trinity of goddesses (Durga, Lakshmi and Sarasvati) as well. Goddess Durga is worshipped for her strength and ferocity which are required for removing the mind its strong rooted negative tendencies. Noble virtues and the knowledge of self can only be gained when all evil tendencies in the mind are destroyed. The killing of Mahishashura (demon) by Goddess Durga actually symbolizes the destruction of the evil tendencies of the mind. Our worship of Goddess Durga during the first three nights of Navaratri festival is actually our invocation to the Divine Power .
