CASSELBERRY, FL—(Marketwired – October 31, 2015) – Bright Smiles Dental, a comprehensive family dental office, recently participated in an AARP exposition to teach seniors about oral health issues and best practices.

The annual AARP exposition, held Oct. 20 in Orlando, gives local health care providers and companies an opportunity to network with seniors and retirees.

“As we age, it’s even more important to make our health and oral health a priority,” said Dr. Tim Chatterley, who operates Bright Smiles Dental. “Today, we have some of the most advanced techniques and technology that can erase years of dental neglect and give patients their smile back.” During the exposition, the staff of Bright Smiles Dental spoke with attendants about the importance of good oral health care and discussed oral health risks people face as they age. The staff met with passersby and passed out goodie bags filled with dental care products and information.

Dr. Chatterley said the exposition gave the staff an opportunity to discuss the most recent technology used in the office, especially new methods for detecting oral cancer. Men and women 40 and older face a higher risk of oral cancer, so Dr. Chatterley recommends an in–depth oral cancer screening following regular checkups and cleanings. Bright Smiles Dental uses a handheld tool called VELscope that reveals even the smallest signs of oral cancer, which allows patients to address problems early.

“It’s important for our older community members and patients to understand that technology and dentistry has changed,” Dr. Chatterley said. “I’ve spoken with some patients who let their dental health decline after a bad dental experience years ago, but with new technology and our noninvasive treatments, we can make our patients more comfortable during their treatments.”

Bright Smiles Dental, 1455 State Rd. 436, Ste. 101, is a state–of–the–art dental office built in 2013 that offers preventive dentistry, cosmetic dentistry, restorative dentistry, nonsurgical periodontal treatments and the revolutionary short–term orthodontic solution Invisalign.

Invisalign is a new orthodontic treatment available for teens and adults that uses clear aligners to straighten teeth. Using Invisalign, patients don’t have to wear embarrassing or uncomfortable metal brackets or wires to achieve a beautiful and healthy–looking smile. The Invisalign trays are virtually invisible and can be easily removed for eating and cleaning. During initial Invisalign consultations, Dr. Chatterley uses the latest technology to show Invisalign patients their smile results when the treatment is finished. Invisalign can help patients correct crooked teeth, gapped teeth and mild bite issues.

Dr. Chatterley graduated at the top of his class from Loyola University of Chicago School of Dentistry and started in private practice in 1978. A Pasco, Wash., native, Dr. Chatterley graduated from Sylmar High School and earned his undergraduate degree from Brigham Young University.

Focused on gentle and compassionate preventive care, Dr. Chatterley is an educator who teaches his patients about the connection between their oral health and overall health. Dr. Chatterley has pursued advanced training in laser gum disease treatment, dental implant restorations and orthodontics.

Dr. Chatterley regularly gives back to the community. He provides dental care for the local Healing the Children medical program; holds free emergency dental events; and has donated proceeds from teeth–whitening services to Second Harvest Food Bank. He also is involved in his church and local Boy Scout troop.
