According to the producer of the upcoming Netflix Castlevania TV show, the show’s content will be on the mature side.

In a recent interview with IGN about the streaming animated series, producer Adi Shankar (Dredd, The Grey) excitedly talked about the project. Embracing the tone and content of Konami’s M-rated games, Shankar doesn’t plan on playing it safe when it comes to vampiric violence.

“[The series is] going to be R-rated as f—,” Shankar said. “This is very much Castlevania done in the vein of Game of Thrones.”

Continuing voicing his dedication to the project, Shankar continued speaking out about Castlevania on his social media.

“I personally guarantee that it will end the streak and be the Western world’s first good video game adaptation,” said the producer on his Facebook account.

The Netflix series will be an adaptation of Castlevania III: Dracula’s Curse. The official show description gives a little more insight, stating that viewers will follow “the last surviving member of the disgraced Belmont clan, trying to save Eastern Europe from extinction at the hand of Vlad Dracula Tepe himself.”

Until this comes out, we’re just going to go back and binge some Hellsing.

Part one of Castlevania‘s first season will arrive on Netflix this year, with each episode running 30 minutes.
