Capcom announced today it is bringing Mega Man finally to new-gen systems, but not in the way most fans probably hope.

The Mega Man Legacy Collection will bundle the original six Mega Man games together in one digital package for $14.99 and feature a new challenge mode and leaderboards.

While this could be an attempt to bring Mega Man to an entirely new audience, many fans of the Blue Bomber know that the Mega Man Anniversary Collection for Gamecube/PS2/Xbox actually put together ten Mega Man games, the first eight traditional titles and then two rarely seen fighting games.

Now that there are ten official games done in the original Mega Man series, this feels like an opportunity lost not to just collect all ten together in one package. Maybe a collection of just the first three Mega Man X games will follow this.

Mega Man Legacy Collection is the latest in a series of remakes and re-releases by Capcom and will be featured alongside Devil May Cry 4 Special Edition and Resident Evil 0 HD at E3 2015.

The Mega Man Legacy Collection will be available on Xbox One, PS4, and PC sometime this summer, with a Nintendo 3DS release coming in the winter.
