About NIMD

The Netherlands Institute for Multiparty Democracy (NIMD) is a democracy assistance organization of political parties in The Netherlands for political parties in young democracies. Currently working with more than 200 political parties from 27 programme countries in Africa, Latin America, Asia and Eastern Europe, NIMD supports institutional development of political parties, consensus building amongst them and broader efforts to support democratic transformation.

Duties and obligations:

Supporting the management of NIMD programs aimed at democratic development;
Maintaining effective contacts with program stakeholders (political parties, civil society groups, international organizations, media);
Organizing (regional and national) meetings, seminars and bilateral meetings with political parties, civil society and media as required by NIMD program activities;
Creating implementation plans, budgets, organizing project activities and performing other, related tasks;
Contributing to the writing of project proposals and reports;
Writing monthly activity reports, detailing the implementation of project activities;
Attending and reporting on meetings of relevance to NIMD program activities;
Writing meeting reports and short entries for the NIMD website;
Performing administrative duties related to the project while also playing a supportive role in other aspects of NIMD work when necessary;
Keeping up with day-to-day political developments in Azerbaijan.

Education and skills:

Graduate degree in social sciences preferred;
Strong and up to date knowledge of Azerbaijan’s political system and its political landscape, highly aware of current issues on a political scene and ongoing debates about reforms and democratic development;
Experience of working with international organizations;
Knowledge and experience with international NGO and development sector and highly aware of key players and actors on the scene;
Fluent English (writing and speaking abilities);
Strong project and report writing skills;
Project planning, monitoring and evaluation skills.

Competencies:

Politically sensitive and impartial;
Disciplined, reliable and a punctual worker, able to meet deadlines and work in a multi-tasking environment;
Strong network with political actors and civil society organizations in Azerbaijan including in its regions;
Able and willing to travel extensively in the regions of Azerbaijan;
Ability to adjust to and work with a multinational team;
Ability to work without immediate regular supervision and of making sound operational decisions;
Good communicator with strong networking abilities.

The Project Officer serves under the supervision of the NIMD Representative in the Eastern European Neighborhood.

Selection:

The selected candidate will be offered a fixed-term contract with a possibility of a year to year extension.
