Designer: Amy Cheung

City: Hong Kong and New York

Signature Style: “Wearable Performance Art”

A Little Bit About Handkerchief:

Visual and performance artist Amy Cheung is dedicated to interdisciplinary experiments in art and design.  Each collection — and often each piece — incorporates high level references and often social commentary. While staying true to her avant garde roots, Cheung’s line has developed over the past few seasons to include many wearable styles that provide retailers with a story to tell… and their eventual owner with a reason to smile each time they reach into the closet.

Why EDIT Loves Handkerchief:

Wearing Handkerchief can be like watching the Simpsons. It’s still cute, even if you miss a lot of the references.

Designer: Kim Hongbum

City: Seoul, South Korea

Signature Style: “The Fashion Engineer”

A Little Bit About CRES. E DIM.:

The name Cres. E Dim. was coined from the musical term “Cresendo E Diminuendo’ (‘Cres’ meaning “Gradually Getting Louder,” and ‘Dim,” meaning “Gradually Getting Softer.”) Hong Bum Kim incorporates this theory of strong and delicate elements into his identity and philosophy. ”I applied this musical concept to my brand identity and even incorporated the musical symbols into my logo.”  The designer draws up entirely new silhouettes by experimenting with different fabrics overlapping the body. Architecture happens to be a great passion of Kim’s and he incorporates these principles in his designs. He cuts the fabric into shapes that become the building blocks of his final masterpiece. It all begins with shapes. To Kim, this is the most important element of design.  You can say that Kim approaches fashion as an engineer constructing the “perfect garment.”

The evening bags named “The Dancing Bags” are immediately recognizable in its aesthetic and its unique function. The materials are intricate yet refined, and the overall design is practical and ergonomic.
