Dear Readers,
this is the last issue of the Weekend Wave in 2015.
Next week I will be back with two more posts. The first one will be the end of 2015 post and the second one will be the first issue of the Weekend Wave in 2016.
The Christmas weekend is nearly gone and people start with preparation to welcome 2016.
My plan for next week is to finish two more books before the end of the year, go to cinema and see Mr Holmes, and to enter the world of Worbla's Finest Art. I got a sheet of the material and a heating gun in summer and did not find time to to work with it so far.

The Lighthouse
It is great to have plenty of time for reading. I finished four books but not all of them have been entertaining ones.
Now there are just two books left which I want to read until the end of the year. That should be now problem.
I finished
- The Widows Guild (digital, 10th October 2015) [ Kindle Edition ASIN: B0165YN9PW] by Anna Castle.
I wrote on GOODEADS:
"This is the third book in the series. As the previous ones it is possible to read it as a stand-alone. BUT that would be only half of the fun because you would miss the development of the characters and their relationships. Again Anna Castle delivered an amazing mystery with twists and turns set in the summer of 1588. "
- The Case of the Six Watsons (digital, September 2015) [ Kindle Edition ASIN: B00FGYSJNA] by Robert Ryan.
I wrote on GOODREADS:
"I'm a big fan of the Sherlock Holmes and Dr Watson and that is one reason why I like the series dedicated to Dr. Watson by author Robert Ryan. This book contains six short stories. The author rewrote five original Conan Doyle stories in the way that he put Dr. Watson in the center of the story. The sixth story has been done by the author himself. The quality of the story varied a bit in sum they have been entertaining and delivered some more information about Dr. Watson himself and his relationship to Sherlock Holmes."
- When the Heavens Fall (digital, May 2015) [ Kindle Edition ASIN: B00WQ5CUX2] by Marc Turner
I wrote on GOODREADS:
"All in all a solid debut novel which in the end did not work for me. I think I expected a way too much. I could not really cope with the pace and the structure.
This belongs to the category of books where I can't give any recommendation."
Last week I showed you a list of science fiction novels and told you that I will read one of them. Finally I decided to go for the following books because I thought it would be great to read something taking place on an other planet in the solar system than Mars. But I have to admit that it was not the best choice.
- Luna: New Moon (digital, 17th September 2015) [ Kindle Edition ASIN: B00VRT927A] by Ian McDonald
I wrote on GOODREADS:
"After reading two extraordinary good books about Mars, I thought it would be great to read a book taking place on an other planet. I read promising reviews from blogger I trust. Now I have finished the book and I have to state that it did not work for me. I could not copy with the story telling and the writing style. I always hoped it would change but it did not. Seems I expected something completely different. I can't give any recommendation because it did not work for me."
No progress
- 168 pages in Hunter of Sherwood: The Red Hand (pb, 30th December 2015) [ISBN-13: 978-1781082904] by Toby Venables
Will continue reading today (Saturday).
- 75 pages in The Prelapsarians (digital, 28th October 2015) [ Kindle Edition ASIN: B017CCHV1E] by John Gaiserich
Will continue reading today (Saturday).
Tried but did not work for me
- no book
Enjoy your weekend ....
Books
Dear readers, I'm the one to tell you about books - only books? What about novellas and other stuff? My name is Bona. I scour shelves, shops and the net for books. If you call me a book whore I would not gainsay you. But be aware I have my own, sometimes elusive taste.
New books on my shelf/reader or when one book leads to another
I did not expect to buy a book last week. But when I saw the offer for following book I could not resist to buy a digital copy.
On my way through the world of epic science fiction series there is still one missing on my shelf: The Culture series written by Ian M. Banks
who died in 2013.
"The war raged across the galaxy. Billions had died, billions more were doomed. Moons, planets, the very stars themselves, faced destruction, cold-blooded, brutal, and worse, random. The Idirans fought for their Faith; the Culture for its moral right to exist. Principles were at stake. There could be no surrender.
Within the cosmic conflict, an individual crusade. Deep within a fabled labyrinth on a barren world, a Planet of the Dead proscribed to mortals, lay a fugitive Mind. Both the Culture and the Idirans sought it. It was the fate of Horza, the Changer, and his motley crew of unpredictable mercenaries, human and machine, actually to find it, and with it their own destruction.
Consider Phlebas - a space opera of stunning power and awesome imagination." [Source]
No more today, see you next week ......
Blogosphere
Hey, I'm Bona Fide. I just came back from my last foray through the blogosphere. What can you expect from me? I tell you: Everything from Art to Fart as long as there is any faint connection to books. And here is some honey from the beehive blogosphere...
Mechanical toys
I think it does not matter how old I get. I will always be fascinated by mechanical toys. Nevertheless I got totally excited when I saw the mechanical toys presented over at WebUrbanist:

Hobbit homes
You are a fan of Lord of the Rings? Deep within yourself you keep the wish to get your own hobbit home in your garden? Then the time has come to let your dream come true: Get your own hobbit home in your garden. How it works is shown over at WebUrbanist:

There was a time when it has been popular to use a Laufmaschine which is also known as dandy horse.
For me information you should have a look at following post over at Atlas Obscura:
Object of Intrigue: Two-Wheeled Transport for Regency Dandies
Epic Fantasy - Completed
In the past month I posted more or less regularly about the amazing post series by Adam Whitehead over at The Wertzone.
Now I can share with you one link instead of 34 links, one for each part of the series. Adam Whitehead has been so kind to deliver a Christmas gift for all fans and interested readers of his post series in form of following post.

Movies
Hey, it's me Fide. I'm a remote control professional. I'm that fast that I can watch two movies at the same time.
Sometimes it takes longer until a movie hits the cinemas in Germany. That is the case with Mr Holmes, which started in US in July 2015 and which is now available in Germany. My wife and I will see Mr Holmes on next Monday.
That is the reason why I share the German trailer with you.
That's it for today. Come back next week for more ......
Quotes
I 'm the Keeper of the minutes. But I don't mind when you call me Kotm. No, no. I don't explain to you how to pronounce.
I have nothing to add to following quote .............
"One's first step in wisdom is to question everything - and one's last is to come to terms with everything.”
Georg Christoph Lichtenberg, German scientist and satirist, 1742 - 1799
