29 Site dealer group, Stoneacre, have today officially announced the launch of their free driving school programme following a successful trial.

Stoneacre’s new driving school will provide a unique opportunity for anyone of legal driving age to enrol for free driving lessons. Initially taking on 2 fully qualified driving instructors to cover Doncaster and Peterborough, the group have ambitions plans to roll out nationwide coverage.

The driving school will operate a fleet of Stoneacre branded Fiat 500′s and is aimed at helping more motorists to get behind the wheel by taking away the huge financial commitment usually associated with learning to drive. Newly enrolled students will be issued with a schedule of lessons and once passed will be invited to take part in exclusive driving seminars aimed at further increasing driver safety, awareness and skill.

Stoneacre are also in final stage talks with a major player in the young driver insurance market, with the aim of securing preferential insurance rates for driving school students.

Explaining the story behind the driving school, Stoneacre MD Shaun Foweather said ‘We launched an apprenticeship scheme in late 2012 and it quickly became apparent that the majority of our apprentices hadn’t yet past their driving test which caused somewhat of a logistical problem when it came to commuting between dealerships and head office. As a solution we decided to cover the cost of driving lessons and soon recognised the potential to extend this to our customers by way of offering free driving lessons to anyone who buys a car from one of our branches.”

Shaun Foweather went on to say “As far as we’re aware the scheme is a first for the motor industry and our initial trial has been a huge success with the demand for free driving lessons heavily outweighing capacity and far exceeding our initial expectations.”
