What happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.  Well that’s how the saying goes, unless you were one of the lucky players that played paintball at the recent United Paintball League (UPL) regional event.  Then you have all of the memories that paintball creates to take home with you.  With no guilt either.

The UPL Regional Open was held at Vegas Xtreme Paintball in Northern Las Vegas, which is about a 15 minute drive from the Vegas Strip and all of the entertainment it has to offer.  The event hosted forty five D5, D4 and D3 teams from all over the Western United States.  These teams competed for over $14k in cash prize money as well as gear from Planet Eclipse and Empire.  Ultimately as with any event there are only the lucky few teams that can call themselves winners, but it seems as if the UPL treats all of the teams like winners.  With amenities like tents and tables available to the teams they were able to stay out of the sun and the rain that came through on Saturday.   Apples, oranges, and bananas were laid out on ice.  Sports drinks and ice water were also available for free to any players in attendance.  Planet Eclipse and Empire had techs standing by to keep the players markers in top form.

On Friday night the UPL hosted a Players party at Blondie’s Sports bar off the Vegas Strip.  The UPL worked out a deal to offer players 20.00 all you can drink beer and shots. It is a wonder that anyone showed up to the first games on Saturday.

Teams had a great selection of paint to choose from.   There was Formula 13, Empire Evil, Empire Ultra Evil and Critical Stealth paint available. With paint as low as 35.00 per case this event is relatively affordable.

Food was available to players throughout the entirety of the event.  Pop’s Tacos and Native Blends were on hand dishing out delicious tacos and healthy Acai bowls all weekend.

Media coverage for the event was provided by Spantastik, 1904 Photography, Raw Fotos, English Rose Photography, Get Shot Photo, and Royal Films.

Tech Support was provide by Planet Eclipse which the teams appreciated and took full advantage of knowing they could get their guns serviced when needed.

The format of the UPL is unique because it allows teams to complete all of their matches in one day.  This allows players to limit travel time and the expense involved with traveling for an event.

Games ran smoothly and ahead of schedule despite the delay caused by the rain on Saturday.  The event concluded on Sunday.  Once the dust settled the following teams took to the podium.

1st Gummy Bears
