Department Description:

The ICU is a 20 bed mixed Medical / Surgical ICU. The nurse to patient ratio is typically 2:1. The unit provides rotoproning/hypothermia/ventilator management/invasive monitoring of all appropriate patients. Some of the specialty equipment on the unit includes but is not limited to ZOLL TMS/KCI rotoproning beds/Vigilence II monitors/Vigileo monitoring/Datascope IABP/Camino ICP monitoring.

PICC Services: PICC nurses for insertion of PICC lines/responsible for maintaining all central line dressings. Two of the PICC staff are Sapien competent/proficient

Position Description:

The position is under the direct supervision of the Nurse Manager and the Supervisor of the Unit. According to hospital policies and procedures, the Staff Nurse assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates nursing care for assigned patients.

Education/Experience:

Required: Graduation from an NLN school of professional nursing. At least 1 year recent experience as an RN in an ICU setting.
Preferred : Completion of or actively pursuing a BSN degree.

Licenses/Certifications:

Required: Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Texas. Current certification from the American Heart Association as a BLS provider.
Preferred : Certification in area of specialty. monitoring for ratio Required includes BACH_a33d1a assesses nurse
