Kim Kardashian Opens Up About Losing Baby Weight

Kim Kardashian has her work cut out for her if she’s to lose the baby weight she put on. The starlet’s pregnancy weight was no laughing matter and while it’s been only four months since she gave birth to baby “North”, she is committed to losing her current pear shaped appearance.

In the successful 2002 film “Barber Shop”, the ex-con “Ricky Nash” regales the boys at the barber shop with his theory on the difference between a woman with a big bottom and a big bottomed woman. Suffice it to say, the image conscious Kardashian has gone from a woman with a big bottom to a big bottomed woman.

So Far Kim has lost an incredible 43lbs.

So how’s Kim shedding the pounds? The old fashioned way – the gym. The socialite was spotted in black tights en route to a gym in Paris. Judging from the photographs, Kardashian is regaining her tone.

As for diet, the socialite revealed to her twitter followers that she’s been doing the Atkins diet.

She wrote, “I’ve actually been doing the Atkins diet & luv (sic) it.”

The Atkins diet involves limited consumption of carbohydrates to switch the body’s metabolism from metabolizing glucose as energy over to converting stored body fat to energy. This process, called ketosis, begins when insulin levels are low; in normal humans, insulin is lowest when blood glucose levels are low (mostly before eating). Reduced insulin levels induces lipolysis which consumes fat to produce ketone bodies. On the other hand, caloric carbohydrates (for example, glucose or starch, the latter made of chains of glucose) affect the body by increasing blood sugar after consumption (in the treatment of diabetes, blood sugar levels are used [1]) Fiber, because of its low digestibility, provides little or no food energy and does not significantly affect glucose and insulin levels.

“Kim is totally focused on weight loss and has waited until now before real training, but has a new ripped personal trainer who comes to the house,” femalefirst.co.uk quoted a source as saying.

“She has completely ditched her pre-baby wardrobe for a new smaller set of clothes as she loses more weight, and has taken to using the Hollywood fad coffee bean extract pills to shed the pounds,” said the source.

“She’s desperate to be a size UK 10-12, and has spoken to leading nutritionists in Hollywood, who said the fat-busting pills were known to be effective,” the source added.

Kris Jenner, Kim’s mother, thinks she still has “a way to go” before she reaches her target weight.

“As far as Kim’s weight is concerned, she has a way to go. She lost quite a bit of weight initially when she first started breast feeding, but it’s especially tough losing those extra baby pounds,” said Jenner.

“She is still breastfeeding and wants to continue for as long as she can,” added Jenner.

Kim isn’t the only Kardiashian trying to shed a few pounds.

Rob Kardashian took to Instagram earlier this week to post what he calls a “motivation time” picture.

Kardashian stepped out in May to debut his Arthur George sock line, and also his major weight loss. He credited his initial weight loss with a strict diet and two-a-day workouts.

On “Keeping Up With the Kardashians” last season, he said that he gained nearly 40 pounds while dating Rita Ora.

He also revealed his “little problem” as a result of weight gain: his supposedly shrinking penis. The upside? “Every time you lose 10 pounds you gain an inch on your penis.”

On other Kardashian news, the family shot their Christmas episode last month. There’s no word why it was shot so early, but Kim let her fans know she enjoyed filming the episode. The reality TV show “Keeping up with the Kardashians” has been struggling with ratings lately. Some speculate the tabloid drama with Lamar Odom and Kim’s first failed marriage to the Neanderthal Kris Humphries has fatigued viewers.
