Canadians Spent Big On Black Friday And Cyber Monday

Black Friday 2014 in Canada: Great Deals and Great Speculation

Many people would deem the most eventful shopping day of the year in Canada as Black Friday, starting off the Christmas season! This year, Black Friday will be occurring on November 28th. It has been said that shoppers start arriving as early as 11am on the morning on Thanksgiving Day to get in line for the start of Black Friday sales. Several retailers open doors at midnight for customers. Most retail websites also host online Black Friday shopping for those who choose not to go out to shop alongside crowds of shoppers.

You can sign up for early deals and coupons at several retailers, such as Sears, Old Navy, Best Buy, JCPenney, Kohl’s, Macy’s and many more. You can find exceptional discounts on clothing, shoes, accessories, furniture, appliances, technology items, toys and home furnishings at any of the following listed retail providers for as much as 80 percent off regular-priced items! These stores are also offering online Black Friday deals, most of which offer free shipping with any order amount. To get more for your purchases online, most shoppers use Amazon for low prices and free shipping. You can also collect online promotional codes early to take an increased discount from your purchases.

Sears Canada is holding its second annual Canadian Thanksgiving Black Friday Sale. Black Friday, Canadian Edition refers to the promotional sales event that occurs in the days leading up to Canadian Thanksgiving on October 13.

“Sears Canada was the first major retailer to bring Canadians great promotional offerings in October to accompany this country’s Thanksgiving holiday,” said Doug Campbell, President and CEO, Sears Canada. “With the broad sales offerings in stores and online, we are thrilled to watch as awareness grows and Canadians get excited about their own Black Friday.”

Consistent with the initial sale last year, Sears Canada is offering a variety of substantial savings in stores and online at www.sears.ca, on items including:

However, some stores feel strongly about not hosting Black Friday sales events due to the frenzy that has developed in America.

Mark Startup with MySTORE, an independent retail division spoke out on the issue, “There are many retailers on the other side of this that would not want to be associated with the Black Friday brand because it is inconsistent with their values and customers. There are many merchants that would rather have a more unique or something closer to their own brand and their uniqueness as opposed to adopting a North American brand like Black Friday,” he says.
