Jeremy Meeks: Convict’s Mug Shot Goes Viral After
Convict’s Mug Shot Goes Viral After
San Francisco, California – Jeremy Meeks has gotten more attention as of recent than most aspiring models ever will. His unique selfie has gone viral with 33,000 likes for his chiseled features, powerful cheek bones, and all-American look. It turns out that the trouble with Meeks is his photograph is his recent mug shot from his arrest for not one but five felony weapons charges related to gang activity. He is actually a convicted felon and his current charges were confirmed by Officer Joseph Silva of the San Francisco Police Department. However, Officer Silva would not release the information Meeks’ prior conviction.
Meeks’ chiseled face, pale blue eyes, and shaved head also sparked a wave of commentary, including more than 14,800 comments, mostly from admirers. “Holy [heck] i would arrest him too..hottest bad boy I’ve seen,” one Facebook user wrote. Another woman added, “He can kidnap me anyday… Hold me against my will lol.” Other admirers said the convicted felon belonged on reality TV series America’s Next Top Model or an Abercrombie & Fitch ad campaign.
Since March of 2012, the SFPD has been posting mug shots for people arrested on their Facebook wall. The department claims it has never experienced this type of response for an inmate’s mug shot. Officer Silva was clearly amazed by the 33,000 likes, 10,400 comments, and 3,000 shared links the photograph has received. As for Meeks, he fell prey to a coordinated sting called Operation Ceasefire designed specifically to target gun-related crime and violence in Stockton, California.
The city of 300,000 residents had long been known as a wonderful suburban paradise in which to raise a family. However, gang activity has steadily risen over the past two decades changing that one pristine image. The task force consisted of officers and agents from the U.S. Marshall’s Task Force, the FBI, and the Stockton police gang unit.

At the time of his capture, Meeks was found with four weapons in his possession. As a convicted felon, he isn’t allowed to own any firearms. His arrest undercuts the gun control lobby which believes that stricter gun laws will reduce gun violence.
His mother, Katherine Angier, started a GoFundMe page to raise money to “Free Jeremy.” On the page, Katherine pleaded with people to donate to get him released. “Please help,” she wrote. “My son was taken into custody on his way to work. He is a working man with a son. He is being stereotyped due to old tatoos [sic].”
His mother also believes he’s been singled out because of his significant tattoos. “He has a job and … He was on his way to work,” she also wrote. “With no gang affiliations as per two of the charges. He has old tattoos..which causes him to be sterotyped [sic]. He’s my son and he is so sweet. Please help him to get a fair trial or else he’ll be railroaded.”
Despite his handsome looks, he is considered to be one of the most violent men in this crime ridden city.
