BANC – the Business Angels Network of Catalonia – was the first business angel network in Spain, connecting business angels with entrepreneurs seeking funding in order to develop their projects. BANC is oriented towards investors who are interested in participating in new business projects. These investors can add value (capital, experience, know-how and contacts) to their projects.
BANC values are: trust, professionalism, social commitment and cooperation. The organization was founded by the CECOT employers union and Autoocupació foundation, with the collaboration of ICF (Institut Català de Finances). BANC belongs to the XIP (Xarxa d’Inversors Privats d’Acció), it is a member of the Spanish Association of Business Angels Networks (AEBAN) and the European Business Angels Network (EBAN). BANC is the main promoter in Spain for the Global Business Angels Network (GBAN).

Since its establishment in 2002, the organization has raised more than 8M€ and has closed more than 50 deals. Moreover, BANC has leveraged 47 companies via ENISA, ICF and EMPRENDETUR, with 4M€ in value.
BANC’s team analyses lots of entrepreneurial projects every year. As an example, in 2015 they managed 54 projects and they achieved an average investment ticket of 197.493 € in seven deals.
The most successful project was Minoryx, a project that was financed by an angel investor in 2012, and was financed by a venture capital fund raising 19,4M€ in 2015.
In addition, BANC organizes numerous events every year, promoting the growth of startups through angel investment.
