Moving sucks…
So bad! You guys, we have way too much stuff. Way too much. I think I had 15 huge boxes just full of blog stuff. That is an entire mini-van full of stuff for the bliggity blog! So when I say moving sucks, I mean it! It sucks!
In addition to the sore back, exhausting days, and hours and hours of work, there is the fact that I basically haven’t seen my family in weeks. My kids go to school, and then come home and I send them out to play or something so I don’t have to deal with trying to pack with kids.
Packing with kids sucks…
So bad! Every time I put something in the “get rid of” box, it magically ends up back in the other boxes.
I bet you are wondering what this has to do with popcorn. I know I would be thinking that. Anyway, after an exhausting week full of moving, soccer games, and cleaning, we needed some family time.
And I was way too tired to do anything that required activity. So we popped several bags of Act II popcorn, lucky for me I went to Sam’s Club and had a box with 28 packages in it. And we had a family movie night.
While I was at Sam’s Club, they had one of those food demos, where you could sample the popcorn, and they had chopped up OREO cookies in it. The OREOS were chopped until they were really fine, and mixed into the popcorn while it was still hot. I loved it. The popcorn was sweet, salty, and buttery, with that yummy cookie crumbs stuck to the exterior. It was great, and gave me a really fun idea.
We love popcorn in our house, but we all have different tastes. I love the sweet caramel corn, while my hubby loves spicy taco flavors, and my kids love cheesy and salty. I figured the best way to accommodate everyone is with popcorn flavor shakers!
So I made different flavor shakers so we could all enjoy the added flavors we enjoy most, whether that is sweet, salty, spicy, or something in between!
Combing these flavor shakers with the microwave ACT II popcorn, makes for the ultimate (and super easy) movie night, where the whole family is happy. And you guys, after pulling out all my spices (like literally all of them) it only took about 15 minutes to whip up all 7 flavors
The flavorings we made are:
Taco, BBQ, Italian, Cool Ranch,Mexican Hot Chocolate, Nacho (Cheese), and Salted Caramel.
Now we pop a bag (or a few) and everyone in the family can shake on their favorite flavors! It is glorious! I can’t believe I didn’t try this earlier.
Popcorn Flavor Shakers

Ingredients
Taco
⅛ tsp coriander
1 tsp minced dried onion
2 tsp. chili powder
2 tsp. onion powder
1 tsp. paprika
1 tsp. garlic powder
½ - 1 tsp. salt
½ tsp. cumin
BBQ
2 tsp smokey paprika
1 tsp chicken bullion
2 Tbs dark brown sugar
1 tsp black pepper
½ tsp garlic powder
½ tsp onion powder
½ tsp chili powder
Cool Ranch
2 Tbs Powdered Cheese (I used a Mac & Cheese packet)
1 tsp onion powder
1 tsp garlic powder
1 tsp dried parsley
1 tsp dried chives
½ tsp turbinado sugar
1 tsp salt
Italian
1 Tbs finely grated Parmesan cheese
½ tsp dried oregano
¼ tsp parsely
½ tsp thyme
½ tsp onion powder
½ tsp salt
¼ tsp freshly ground black pepper
¼ tsp crushed red-pepper flakes, (optional)
Nacho
2 Tbs Powdered Cheese
1 tsp. paprika
½ tsp. chili powder
1 tsp. onion powder
½ - 1 tsp. salt
Mexican Hot Chocolate
1 Tbs cocoa powder
1 Tbs hot cocoa mix
¼ cup powdered sugar
¼ tsp cinnamon
¼ tsp coarse salt
Salted Caramel
2 Tbs powdered sugar
½ Tbs turbanido sugar
1 tsp salt
1 ½ Tbs dark brown sugar
Instructions
Mix ingredients for each flavor separately in small bowls, then pour into shaker and enjoy!
