July is National Ice Cream Month, and we can’t think of a better way to celebrate than to visit some of our favorite local Southern spots to test out the gamut of incredible flavors. From triple decker sandwiches in Palm Beach to bourbon and honey flavored ice cream from Lexington, here are a few eclectic offerings that’ll make your mouth water.

Located in the Southside of Fort Worth, Melt partners with local businesses to find the freshest, high-quality ingredients, like made-from-scratch caramel and hand-stretched peppermint. Six flavors rotate monthly, but this month’s Got Your Goat – house-made strawberry jam with local goat cheese – has enticed our sweet tooth.
Bourbon Ball Sundae
Crank and Boom; Lexington, KY
It’s no wonder that the “Horse Capital of the World” is known for their bourbon ice cream. This creamy bourbon-and-honey flavored ice cream is made from Buffalo Trace bourbon and topped with gourmet chocolate bombe sauce and candied pecans.
Triple Decker Ice Cream Sandwich

These luxe over-the-top ice cream sandwiches are made to order. Choose a freshly baked chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin, peanut butter or sugar cookie, and then top with your favorite flavors and toppings (including bacon!). We recommend stacking three cookies with Dulce de Leche, vanilla ice cream, triple chocolate sauce, and whipped cream.

Keep an eye out for this mobile ice cream parlor. Gypsy Scoops brings a twist on the childhood ice cream truck with high-quality, hand-scooped ice cream. Bestsellers include Windy Van Hooten (white chocolate chip with a ribbon of raspberry), Wookiee’s Cookies (cinnamon ice cream with oatmeal cookie pieces and chocolate chunks) and the oh-so-delectable Gypsy Bride (vanilla ice cream with wedding cake pieces and chocolate chips).
