As if small-batch artisan makers, Boston’s favorite food truck, full size pours of booze, and workshops weren’t enough, there’s yet another lovely component to this year’s Holiday Market. I think it’s safe to say that folks who eat boutique also appreciate a good cookbook – in fact, we usually swoon over them!

What could be better than a curated cookbook shop at the Market? Well, a cookbook shop filled with the cookbooks’ authors, naturally. Get hunting for your nicest pens as Rachel’s gushing on the inspiring cookbook authors who plan to sign and sell their books in our curated shop. See you soon! -Amy

Karen J Covey: Clambakes and lobster rolls are the foods that immediately come to mind when thinking of coastal New England.  In her new book The Coastal Table, Karen J Covey goes beyond these common dishes to capture seaside living in New England at its freshest and most innovative. The Coastal Table has more than 120 recipes that update and modernize traditional New England fare, and showcases some of Karen’s favorite ingredients, purveyors, artisans and chefs.  I can’t wait to try the Modern Clams Casino with Oregano Mojo, accompanied by a Beach Plum Mojito, with Creamy Coffee Milk Pudding for dessert!

Diana Rogers: After being diagnosed with Celiac disease at age 26, Diana switched to a gluten-free diet, but still suffered from low energy and stomach distress. After discovering the Paleo Diet a few years ago, Diana felt that her entire life had changed and she’s never felt healthier or stronger! Seeing others struggle to make easy, delicious and portable meals that follow the Paleo Diet, Diana set out to create a book that takes the confusion out of how to make hand-friendly and fast Paleo meals in her book Paleo Lunches and Breakfasts on the Go.  The meals in Diana’s book are as healthy and easy to make as they are gourmet, and Diana has been called “one of the most important people in the burgeoning sustainable food story and greater Paleo food movement.”

Jeanne Savage: The holiday season is prime baking time, and anyone who is gluten-free might be discouraged when thinking about the desserts he or she might bring to the holiday table. Jeanne Savage has the solution to that problem, and presents all of the baking recipes that you need for festive holiday seasons in her book Gluten-free Baking for the Holidays: 60 Recipes for Traditional Festive Treats. Jeanne writes the popular blog Art of Gluten-Free Baking, and her book has been included in The Daily Meal’s “Top 25 Cookbooks of 2012” and on NPR’s “2012 Cookbook Roundup Shortlist.  If you thought that holiday favorites like apple pie, plum pudding, rugelach, buche de Noel, and even gingerbread houses were off-limits, Jean’s book will teach you to think again!

Tammy Donroe Inman: I recently spotted a recipe for a Cranberry Torte on one of my favorite food blogs and had to find out more about the book from which it came: Wintersweet by Tammy Donroe Inman.  Tammy is a graduate of the Cambridge Culinary Institute, veteran of Cook’s Illustrated Magazine and America’s Test Kitchen, and writes the popular blog Food on the Food. In Wintersweet, Tammy creates decadent desserts from the season’s best, often-overlooked ingredients:  squashes and pumpkins, parsnips and carrots, apples, pears, and citrus. The book features recipes for puddings, ice creams, cakes, cookies and pies, which taste better with seasonal produce that can be found near your own backyard!

Hillary Davis: One of the amazing things about food is that a single bite of a particular dish can often transport us to another time and place.  Every recipe in Hillary Davis’s book Cuisine Nicoise: Sun-kissed Cooking from the French Riviera possesses that magic. Hillary is a long time food journalist and cooking instructor, and is the author of the acclaimed book A Million a Minute as well as the creator and writer of the popular food blog Marche Dimanche. She lived in the village of Bar-sur-Loup near Nice for over 11 lives, and in her book presents the recipes and cooking style from the “other” French Cuisine – the one that forms the foundation of the Mediterranean diet and celebrates local, fresh and light. It only takes one bite of Salmon with Summer Vegetables and White Wine Sabayon or Madame’s Peaches and Cream Tart to make you feel like you’ve landed in the French countryside!

Joanne Chang: If you live in or around Boston, you’ve likely been to one of Joanne Chang’s Flour Bakeries. If you don’t, you may have seen Joanne making breakfast pizzas on The Today Show, baking chocolate mousse cake and homemade Oreos on The Chew, or throwing down with Bobby Flay over homemade sticky buns. Joanne’s first cookbook, Flour: Spectacular Recipes from Boston’s Flour Bakery+Café, features recipes for her beloved cookies, cakes, and other sweet goodies. The just-released companion book, Flour Too, provides the recipes for all of the bakery’s most-requested savory fare. I’ve been steadily baking my way through Joanne’s first book and each new recipe becomes the best thing I’ve ever made! I can’t wait to get my hands on a signed copy of Flour Too so I can tackle Flour’s Famous Egg Sandwich and Mama Chang’s Hot and Sour Soup!
