Mt. Bethel Christian Academy (MBCA) in East Cobb is pleased to announce that 76 percent of their seventh grade students have qualified for the 2015 Duke University Talent Identification Program (TIP).

To qualify for the program, students must score at the 95th percentile or higher on a grade level standardized achievement subtest, aptitude, or mental ability test battery within the past two years. If students choose to enroll in the program, they are given the opportunity to take either the SAT or ACT college entrance exams.

“The Talent Identification Program gives seventh grade students an opportunity to experience a college entrance exam and further understand their abilities,” said Erica Watford, Mt. Bethel Christian Academy Middle School Counselor and 8th Grade Science teacher.

“Selection for this program is an honor and we are elated for these students,” continued Watford.

“At Mt. Bethel Christian Academy, we offer nurturing, Christ-centered classrooms that are focused on serious academic preparation and spiritual growth,” said Jim Callis, Head of School.

“We continually evaluate our curriculum and research the most effective means of reaching our students to ensure that they are well prepared for their futures. I am proud of the seventh grade class and the teachers that lead our students,” continued Callis.

The Duke University TIP is a nonprofit organization dedicated to serving academically talented youth. Duke TIP works with students, families, and educators to identify, recognize, challenge, engage, and support gifted youth in reaching their highest potential. Since 1980, more than 2.5 million students have benefited from TIP resources. Mt. Bethel Christian Academy has two campuses that currently serve students in grades prekindergarten through eleventh grade.

In the fall of 2017, MBCA will offer classes through twelfth grade. The Academy provides a Christ-centered education in an environment that develops and encourages academic excellence, spiritual growth and a lifelong love and desire for learning.
