Autumn is in full swing! East Cobb is a great place to be this time of year. While the summer  festivals and Halloween have come and gone, there are many great fall events to enjoy. Below are some great events coming up this week.

THROUGH NOVEMBER 8 – Young Frankenstein presented by the Atlanta Lyric Theatre. It’s alive! The comedy genius Mel Brooks adapts his legendarily funny film into a brilliant stage creation – Young Frankenstein. Thursday-Saturday: 8pm. Sunday: 2pm. Tickets range from $42-63. Jennie T. THROUGH DECEMBER 12 – Good Mews Décor Market. Get started on your holiday shopping at the Good Mews annual Holiday Décor Market. Choose from festive fall décor, collectibles, ornaments and tree trimmings, party platters and serving ware, knick-knacks and so much more! Proceeds go to Good Mews Animal Foundation, a cage free no-kill shelter for cats. Fridays: 12pm-6pm; Saturdays 10am-6pm. Free admission. NOVEMBER 6 – GREEK NIGHT! OPA! Live Greek Music & Entertainment. Greek Dancing with lessons available! Silent Auction! Proceeds will benefit Camp Kudzu (for diabetics), Center for Family Resources, and Philoptochos (a philanthropic ministry of Holy Transfiguration Greek Orthodox Church). 6-9pm. NOVEMBER 6-7, 13-15, & 20-21 – Guys and Dolls presented by Act3 Playhouse. A classic oddball romantic comedy. NOVEMBER 7 – Make Your Own Handcrafted Greeting Cards. Learn to make fun and beautiful handcrafted greeting cards using clever card making ideas and a variety of techniques. Participants should bring a pair of sharp scissors, a personal paper cutter, and a full roll of a dot runner scrapbooking or double-sided tape. 3-5 pm. Registration is required. NOVEMBER 7-8 – Viking Reenactment. The life of a Viking comes alive as The Sons of Loki present aspects of Norse, Saxon and Norman culture. Demonstrations include Viking encampment, clothing, weapons, armor, craftsmanship, leather craft, shield making, wood carving, storytelling, fighting, camp skits and more. 10am-4pm. Free. NOVEMBER 8 – Kennesaw Mountain National Battlefield Park: Artillery Demonstrations. Artillery (cannon) demonstrations show visitors the steps taken to fire cannons during the American Civil War. Each program lasts approximately 30-40 minutes and includes and explanation of the role of artillery during the Atlanta Campaign and at the Battle of Kennesaw Mountain. 11am, 12pm, 2pm and 3pm. NOVEMBER 9 – League of Women Voters Meeting. Ashley Luft, Director of The Home Depot Foundation, will speak about housing challenges many veterans and their families face. NOVEMBER 10 – Learn the Language of Men’s Health presented by WellStar. This program will focus on men’s health and wellness such as, routine preventative care, recommended screenings and assessments for the leading causes of death in men: heart disease, cancer, and accidents or injuries. NOVEMBER 12 – Hispanic Heritage Festival. Commemorating Hispanic Heritage month, Walton Spanish Club invites all students, parents, and community members to enjoy savoring the flavor of the Hispanic world at this event! The festival will feature Spanish music, dances, performances, a quinceañera parade, and food samples. 5:30-7:30pm. NOVEMBER 13 – Clifford the Big Red Dog. Everyone’s favorite big red dog headlines a live musical performance. Clifford and Emily Elizabeth embark on a journey to Birdwell Island to meet up with their friends and learn to share Clifford’s BIG ideas, sharing, playing fair and working together. 6:30pm. Gingerbread Gala and Competition. The Junior League of Cobb-Marietta will host its inaugural Gingerbread House Competition and Showcase. NOVEMBER 14 – Surviving the Holidays After a Separation or Divorce.Seminar led by Licensed Counselor Judith Reichenbach. This seminar will address the difficult emotions you experienced when you first separated or divorced can return full-force during the holiday season, even if your breakup happened months or years ago. The sights, sounds, and smells of the season trigger unexpected emotions.
