Carolyn (Stanelun) Egan, 76, of Bristol

Carolyn (Stanelun) Egan, 76, of Poppasquash Road, Bristol, passed away peacefully at home on June 12 surrounded by her family after a private battle with Neuroendocrine cancer.  She was the beloved wife of the late Robert (Bob) Egan for 51 years until his death in 2010.

Born in Providence in 1938, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Stanelun and the late Helen Stanelun Jasnowski and sister to the late Joseph Stanelun.  She is survived by daughters Susan Egan and her husband Don Rodriques of Bristol and Janet Egan King and her husband Andrew King of Concord, Mass.

She was a loving Nana to Madison, Hannah and Sam Rodriques and to Liam and Lily King. Carolyn was the aunt and great-aunt to many nieces and nephews and dear life-long friend to Loretta McHale Clark of Bristol.

Carolyn graduated from Mount Pleasant High School in 1957 and married Bob in 1958.  They raised their family in Washington Park and Edgewood. They were active members of the Edgewood Yacht Club. Throughout her life, Carolyn was an avid gardener who also enjoyed tennis, sailing, skiing, reading, traveling and cooking for family and friends.

She was a wonderful homemaker and talented dressmaker. Carolyn worked for Brown University in the computer department for many years. Bob and Carolyn spent their retirement years in Bristol alongside Susan and Don and their children. Upon moving to Bristol, Carolyn joined the Bristol Elks. She also became a faithful Zumba enthusiast.

Carolyn’s true passion was astrology. In 1984 she became an astrologer covering the standard teachings in depth. Her specialty was astrometeorology and long-range weather forecasting. She advanced to teaching internationally via the internet with students of all ages around the world. The pinnacle of her astrological career was the release of her Weather Forecasting CDs, a basic self-study course.

Since 1991, she took many steps to promote and improve long-range weather forecasting.  In addition to teaching her original online course, she designed and developed the weathersage.com website and lectured nationally and internationally for the (UAC) United Astrology Conference and the (NCGR) National Council for Geocosmic Research.  She also designed, prepared and distributed hundreds of long range weather reports quarterly for 40 plus seasons. She is duly noted as a pioneer, dedicated teacher, author and lecturer.

Carolyn was smart, vibrant and ahead of her time.  She will be missed.
