(Posted Feb 22, 2017) – Elmhurst Hospital Center is seeking a full time Trauma, Critical Care, and Acute Care Surgeon. The ideal candidate must be BC/BE in general surgery and surgical critical care. The position will involve managing patients in our 12 bed STICU and 8 bed surgical step-down unit, and at other times covering trauma and acute care surgical cases. The successful candidate will be working full time at Elmhurst Hospital Center but will be employed through our affiliate, the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. A faculty appointment in the Department of Surgery at Mount Sinai is included.
Elmhurst Hospital Center is a 545 bed tertiary care hospital and a New York State Designated Level 1 Trauma Center and is located in the borough of Queens in New York City. We are in one of the most ethnically diverse neighborhoods in the United States. We see over 1400 trauma admissions annually. Elmhurst Hospital is part of New York City’s Health and Hospitals, which is the largest municipal health system in the country.
The Trauma Service is supported by dedicated surgical residents from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai as well as physician assistants. Elmhurst is one of the major teaching affiliates of Mt. Sinai which includes the third year medical student surgical clerkship.
