If you have never heard me say this, I am not a morning person.  I usually stay awake very late and dread getting up in the morning.  I really hate waking up in the mornings.  I don’t drink coffee so that makes it even worse.  Each work day, I have to force myself to get up after hitting the snooze button multiple times.  There are many times when I wake up still half asleep and turn off my alarm clock thinking I am fully awake.  Then I will lie back down and lie to myself as I convince myself that it is only for a few minutes.

The next thing I know I am waking up on my own 30 minutes to an hour later realizing that time is no longer on my side.  I jump out the bed and hurry to get ready and head off to work.

This is how I begin most of my days

Beginning a day like this, you can probably see how this is not the best approach.  Since I wake up late, I may arrive to work late.  Or I may forget something that I will need during the day as I rush out the door.  Most likely, I will find myself stuck in traffic as time appears to move so quickly while my car is forced to move so slowly.

I’m sure many people have similar issues that make them hate waking up in the morning.

If you are one of the many people, you may be like me and just assume that you are just not a morning person.  That may not be the actual case.  It could be something you dread each day that you would rather lie in bed than wake up and face it.

For many people, this is how they feel about work.  This may be your situation.  You are stuck in the rat race.  Everyday, you wake up reluctantly, fight against traffic, to go to a job that does not fulfill you.  You have a boss that constantly controls you and how you manage your day.  I have read that the majority of people are unhappy with their jobs.  Yet, most people need their jobs so they can pay their expenses each month.  This is how you get stuck in the rat race.  You go to work because you have to so you can earn money to pay your bills.  Then you have to go back to work to earn money to pay your bills.  This becomes an endless cycle and can easily create a dark atmosphere around your job.

You probably don’t wake up because you want to…you wake up because you have to.  You are not alone.  Many people wake up because they have to, but there are a few things you can do about this if you hate waking up in the mornings.
