Episode 4 of “The Joe D Show” podcast features a visit with “Fun Home” composer Jeanine Tesori in her Manhattan studio.

Having Tesori seated at her piano was an ideal way to talk about the show, the songs and working with lyricist Lisa Kron as well as Alison Bechdel, whose graphic memoir inspired the musical.

“Alison didn’t hover,” Tesori says. “She didn’t over-note. She just guided.”

“Fun Home” is now in previews and opens April 19 at Circle in the Square.
