Matt Lambros Sarah McLachlan, Gladys Knight, the Moscow Ballet, Frankie Valli, and Crosby, Stills, & Nash are among the performers who will take the stage at the newly restored Kings Theatre, which today announced programing for its inaugural year.

The Barclays Center isn’t the only fresh Brooklyn venue drawing stars.

The Kings Theater — a newly restored “wonder theater,” originally erected in 1929 — has announced a full line-up of artists for its upcoming, grand re-opening.

The ornate theater — which dates from the golden age of New York movie palaces — will re-boot on February 3rd with a concert by Diana Ross.

Other stars set to play the venue over the next few months include Sarah McLachlan, Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons, Widespread Panic, Crosby, Stills and Nash, and Gladys Knight.

The theater, located at 1027 Flatbush Avenue, stands as one of five so-called “wonder theaters,” created by the Lowes Movie Company chain between 1929 and 1930, at the height of the depression.

The building has recently undergone a $ 95 million renovation to become a fully modern performing arts center.

It closed in 1977 and was seized by the city for back taxes in 1983. For years, the theater stood vacant, until the Houston-based ACE Theatrical Group began the restoration in 2012.

Matt Lambros After being shuttered for nearly four decades, the former movie palace has been transformed into a state-of-the-art performance venue—the largest of its kind in Brooklyn. Matt Lambros The space will host more than 200 performances annually by major national, international, and local talent.

Matt Lambros The Theatre will kick off its inaugural year with an opening concert on February 3 by internationally acclaimed artist Diana Ross.
