The Durham Medical Orchestra performs their Winter 2016 Concert, featuring the beautiful, bold, bright, and brilliant works of Bach, Beethoven, Brahms, and Bryant, at Baldwin Auditorium on East Campus. Branford Marsalis and Susan Fancher were guest soloists in the program. The Durham Medical Orchestra unites musicians and community at the intersection of music and health. Modeled on the Life Sciences Orchestra at the University of Michigan, the DMO plays substantial pieces from the classical repertoire. The DMO has over 90 members and is composed primarily of health care professionals and graduate students in life science disciplines, as well as friends and family members who share our goals of musical excellence and outreach. The Durham Medical Orchestra was founded in 2010 as the Duke Medicine Orchestra as a collaboration between Duke physician Dr. Barbara Kamholz, the Arts and Health at Duke, the Multicultural Resource Center of Duke School of Medicine, and musicians affiliated with the Duke Medicine community.
