Catching you up on last week’s happenings.

Hey dudes and dudettes. Were you too busy hunting down and burning every last Kevin Durant jersey in the state of Oklahoma to keep up with the Cowboys? Don’t worry, I gotchu. It was a busy week for Oklahoma State athletics and the rest of the Big 12, so let’s get into it.

Basketball

Sic’d us

The Baylor Bears came to Stillwater, and left with a narrow victory. Essentially, the Cowboys were “out-bigged” as Johnathan Motley went on to score 24 points and collect 11 rebounds. In all, the Cowboys were outrebounded 34-24. Not a winning recipe. The game was firmly in Baylor’s hands until about the final 2.5 minutes. Baylor went cold, and Oklahoma State started to string some buckets together. The Cowboys had two chances to tie the game in the final possesion, but came up short.

Jawun Evans had a good all-around game, scoring 16 points, and adding 5 rebounds, 6 assists and 2 steals. Jeffrey Carroll led the Cowboys with 20 points.

When you are sad that your team lost, but then you realize that they almost came back to beat one of the best teams in the conference:

Horns Down

Oklahoma State proves to be too much for the struggling Texas Longhorns. OSU jumped out ahead mid-way through the first, and never looked back. The Longhorns couldn’t put a run together, and the Cowboys are back to their winning ways.

The Big 3 for the Cowboys, Evans, Forte and Carroll, dominated the game and combined for 48. Davon Dillard was incredible off the bench, adding 15 points on 5-of-6 shooting. Oh, he also made SportsCenter again.

Football

Hitting the Oregon Trail

It’s kind of been a bummer of a week for Oklahoma State football. In case you have been visiting your weird Uncle Bartholomew who lives under a rock and doesn’t have wifi because he believes the government is using the internet to spy on people (Uncle Bart is right), Coach Marcus Arroyo has taken a job at Oregon. Arroyo has been the running backs coach for two years, and has put in WORK on the recruiting trail. I mean, who wouldn’t want to play on this guys team? He’s young, smart, hip. Let’s try to not replace him with a dinosaur who thinks Lil Yachty is the name of the smallest of Nick Saban’s boats.

Coach Arroyo is the realest:

O-line Coach Hired

On a more upbeat note, we have named former Oklahoma State lineman, Josh Henson, the offensive line coach. After releasing Greg Adkins, we needed someone to step in and continue to developing this postion group, and it looks like Gundy has put his faith in Henson.

Todd Monken loves the hire:

If he’s good enough for Monken, he’s good enough for me. Good luck, Coach Henson!

Wrestling

OSU wrestling has been dominant this week, and NO ONE WILL STAND IN OUR WAY!

I used that GIF to distract you from my lack of knowledge of the sport of wrestling. SORRY GUYS! Once Cade expands the CRFF budget (lol), I can hire a wrestling intern to write about this stuff for me. If anyone wants to write about wrestling in the prestigious “Week in Review” post for free, contact me on Twitter at @AHiggsOSU.

Qualtifications:

Must be able to understand what the hell is happening during a wrestling match.

Must watch all OSU wrestling matches.

Until then…

Around the Big 12

The Big 12 is withholding 25% of future revenue from Baylor. But wait…

The catch is that money will be held until the completion of a third-party review of the school’s required changes. At which point, if Baylor proves it has made improvements presumably to its Title IX office and procedures, the money will apparently be handed over to Baylor.

LAAAAAAAAAME. You’re just going to give them back all that money as if they were never penalized in the first place?! Here’s an idea, take all that money and donate it to a charity that helps sexual assault victims. BOOM! Or you can give it all to me, so that I can buy some new irons and become a member out at the Patriot Golf Club in Owasso. Those are two better ideas than just handing the money back over to those creeps.

Keep Bill Snyder in your T’s and P’s.

What’s Been Happening at CRFF?

We ran a poll earlier in the week, and Oklahoma State fans have placed a ton of faith into this Cowboys basketball team. Check it out!

#AwakentheGIAnt

CRFF contributor, Brodie Smith, is putting together a series of posts about some of our favorite Pokes over the years.

So I began to wonder what it might be like to see some former Pokes in orange and black again—one last time to suit up and perform for fans’ applause and wonder.

Over the next several weeks, CRFF will be running a series to feature Cowboys and Cowgirls of yesteryear that we wish could have one more chance to compete in an OSU uniform.

Be sure to stay tuned in to what Brodie will be releasing on the site over the next few weeks.

Our own Phillip Slavin spoke with Oklahoma State GREAT, Jordan Sterns. Check it out.
