Michigan offensive tackle names Wisconsin, the “best offensive lineman school in the world,” his favorite
That would be Pinckney, Michigan (Northville), prospect David Moorman. Listed at 6’5, 275, and considered a three-star 2015 tackle, Mormoon picked up a Wisconsin offer on Thursday, according to 247 Sports ($). Tight ends/special teams coordinator Jeff Genyk and offensive line coach T.J. Woods both spoke to Moorman, who’s also received offers from Cincinnati, Illinois and Minnesota, among others.
247 reports that Moorman might also camp at Ohio State, Michigan and Michigan State, but Wisconsin is currently his favorite. Having already visited Madison, Moorman says Wisconsin will be in the race until the end.
“Honestly, I’m just going to think about it,” he said. “I haven’t seen my family yet. I don’t know. I still have to figure everything out. I know one thing for sure, Wisconsin is going to be down to the very end and I’ll be highly considering going there.”
He was certainly excited by the offer, at the very least, in addition to naming the Badgers his favorite.

The Badgers haven’t picked up a commitment in a while, with Fort Lauderdale, Florida, wide receiver Andrew James being the latest back on March 11. It’s still early, so additional decisions might remain far off. But as the Badgers continue to chase skill players from across the country, it’ll be important as always to keep an eye on top linemen prospects the Badgers are chasing. Moorman’s yet to add offers from in-state powers Michigan and Michigan State, something he’s naturally been working toward, SB Nation’s Maize n Brew reported in April.

Badgers offer Virginia receiver
Gary Jennings is a Stafford, Virginia (Colonial Forge), wide receiver who’s considered an early three-star 2015 prospect. At 6’2, 190, he has decent size and is ranked No. 138 among wide receivers by 247. Wisconsin offered last month, and it turns out Jennings has been a fan ($) since the not-so-long-ago days of a certain former Badgers quarterback who’s now a Super Bowl champion (just wait until Brooks Bollinger comes out of retirement).
“The Wisconsin offer was a very exciting offer,” Jennings told Badger247. “I look forward to getting up there very soon. I’ve been following them for awhile now due to Russell Wilson. I used to go to the same high school as him.”
We’re probably long overdue for a column on the long-lasting effects of Wilson’s year at Wisconsin, but that’ll remain a digression for now. The competition is expected to stiffen for Jennings, who has a half-dozen offers already and, 247 reports. schools like Tennessee and Penn State could soon hand out offers of their own.
Wisconsin eyeing 2016 Arizona legacy quarterback
This is early, standard interest, with a potentially significant twist. Wisconsin is expected to visit Scottsdale, Arizona (Saguaro), quarterback Kare’ Lyles by mid-May. Lyles’ father, Kevin, played for the Badgers in the late 1990s as a tight end. Interestingly enough, the combination of Wikipedia and a 247 message board tells me Kevin came to the Badgers as a highly touted prep quarterback before moving to tight end. In all honesty, I was 6 years old at the time, so I’ll have to defer here.

Coming off Gabe Megginson’s commitment to Illinois, one might think Wisconsin isn’t going to have a chance to build off the goodness from last year’s recruiting class. But that person would be wrong. Wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong, wrong.

Anyway, Kare’ is a 6’1, 215-pound 2016 pro-style quarterback who has also drawn interest from Arizona, Florida and UCLA. His brother, Kayden, also happens to be one of Arizona state’s hottest early 2017 prospects. The Badgers have already offered Kayden, in fact.
Georgia remains… hot?
Bad weather puns are especially unforgivable in early, rainy May, so, uhh, forgive me. But in addition to the pair of Georgia prospects Andrew covered in his Wednesday recruiting roundup, there are a few more Peach State prospects to keep an eye on.
LB Tyler Cooksey, Norcross, Georgia (Greater Atlanta Christian School): This three-star 2015 linebacker has a ton of offers from high-profile schools like Georgia Tech and Clemson (the favorites), plus Illinois, Iowa, Tennessee and Texas A&M. Defensive coordinator Dave Aranda and running backs coach/noted Georgia football maven Thomas Brown visited Cooksey last week, and while there seems to be mutual interest, no offer’s been extended yet. Cooksey plans to make a top three or five in June ($), and then commit sometime before his senior season begins.
CB Mecole Hardman, Elberton, Georgia (Elbert County): A 5’11, 171-pound 2016 cornerback, Hardman picked up five offers in April, beginning with Wisconsin. The others include Kentucky, Old Dominion, Tennessee and UNC Charlotte, though Hardman did say Georgia is beginning to show solid interest.
ATH Donqual Young, Waynesboro, Georgia (Burke County): Another Thomas Brown target, young is a 5’9, 170-pound 2015 athlete who’s planning on camping at Wisconsin this summer. Young doesn’t have any offers yet, but several schools including Florida Atlantic, Missouri and South Florida are beginning to show interest. 24 also reports that Young will camp at Florida, Clemson, Georgia and Miami, among others.
More offers
2015 linebacker Darrin Kirkland, Jr. (Indianapolis, Lawrence Central) named Wisconsin in his top 10 on Thursday. He originally planned to announce his decision on May 31, but has since delayed any announcement.
2015 defensive end Trevon Hill added an offer from Wisconsin on Wednesday. Clemson, North Carolina, Virgnia Tech and Wake Forest, among others, have already offered. Virginia Tech is widely considered the favorite at this juncture.
2015 offensive tackle Drayton Carlberg also added a Wisconsin offer this week.
2015 outside linebacker Kyler Manu is the last Wisconsin offer we’ll cover this week. Manu committed to Boise State in early April, but his recruitment might still be up for grabs. He’s currently the No. 2 prospect out of Idaho and No. 77 outside linebacker for 2015.
