Community Invited to Recognition Luncheon on Dec. 14 (Dublin, OH) – The Dublin Chamber of Commerce will present City Barbeque, Inc. with the 2012 Spotlight Dublin Award at its 27th Annual Recognition Luncheon on Dec. 14. The luncheon will take place from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Muirfield Village Golf Club Pavilion, 5750 Memorial Dr. in Dublin. Area businesses and members of the community are invited to attend. The Spotlight Dublin Award recognizes a person, place or thing that brings positive national attention to Dublin. Previous honorees include OhioHealth Dublin Methodist Hospital, Jack Nicklaus, Jack Hanna, Bobby Rahal, Dave Thomas, Ashland Inc. and the Dublin Irish Festival. City Barbeque was selected for the 2012 Spotlight Dublin Award because the company, headquartered in Dublin, Ohio, operates 21 restaurants, employs nearly 600 team members and in 2012 was listed as one of ZAGAT’s Top 20 Ranked Barbeque Restaurants in the United States. City Barbeque started in 1999 when an award-winning barbeque competition team put their closely-guarded recipes and techniques together for an authentic barbeque experience. “When we took home top honors in the American Royal Barbeque Championship in Kansas City, we wanted to bring our good food home to the city,” said Rick Malir, City Barbeque, Inc. co-founder and president. “So I started smoking real, authentic barbeque in my Dublin, Ohio driveway and prepared everything to the Kansas City Barbeque Society standards. The rest is just a 14-year tasty history.” In addition to its restaurants, City Barbeque Inc. operates multiple catering divisions, retail sales and barbeque by mail. The company is expanding rapidly with plans to open a new location in Carey, North Carolina in 2013. “We are thrilled to present this year’s Spotlight Dublin Award to City Barbeque, Inc. for its nationwide reputation for offering customers the best regional barbeque styles in America,” said Dublin Chamber Executive Director Margery Amorose. Additional Awards Two additional awards will be presented at the Recognition Luncheon, the Dublin Chamber President’s Award and the Dublin Chamber Ambassador of the Year. Gene Oliver, vice president of Global Systems and Information Technology at OCLC, will receive the 2012 President’s Award because of his positive contributions to the Dublin Chamber, the Dublin community and area businesses. His guidance on the Dublin Chamber Board of Directors, as Chamber Vice President and as a dedicated advisor on the Chamber’s Communications & Technology Committee has helped the Dublin Chamber add value to member services and increase the number of programs that allow members to save money. Gene also has been instrumental in helping the Chamber with its record and data management, computer system upgrades and website redesign. Mary Murico, independent sales director with Mary Kay, will be awarded the 2012 Ambassador of the Year for her volunteer efforts in support of the Dublin Chamber and its 1,200 member businesses. Mary joined the Ambassador Club in 2008 and since that time has assisted the group in increasing membership and strengthening awareness of member benefits. Mary served as co-chairperson of the Member Retention Committee and actively volunteers her time at Chamber events, visiting new businesses and informing members about Chamber benefits.
