Blogger Spotlight: Issa of Issaplease
On this midweek episode of Blogger Spotlight, we are proud to feature a blogger who has been in the blogosphere for so long already. She has been blogging for 11 amazing years and counting. Can you imagine that? Pretty cool, right? She mostly blogs about fashion and lifestyle and has been featured in local publications.
With no further adieu, let’s give it up for Issa Perez, the bubbly and stylish blogger behind IssaPlease.
TELL US A BIT ABOUT YOURSELF AND HOW YOU GOT INTO BLOGGING?
Issa: I got into blogging 11 years ago back when every teenager was still on Xanga. I still keep my personal blog until now but I’m on www.issatalks.wordpress.com since Xanga was shut down a couple of years ago.
I started fashion/ lifestyle blogging around 6 years ago when I was still in college. Back then I was forced to take up a course I was unhappy with and I needed an outlet that allowed me to talk and do things I was passionate about which was mostly fashion and writing. I played with platforms and usernames for a while until I really had a clear vision of who and what kind of brand I wanted to make for myself which eventually led me to becoming Issaplease. I’ve been maintaining this site for a good 2-3 years already and I have been able to work with multiple people in the industry which makes me feel extremely grateful.
I have also returned to vlogging and an acknowledged member of ABS CBN’s multi channel network Chicken, Pork, Adobo
WHERE DID YOU GET THE IDEA OF YOUR BLOG’S NAME?
Issa: I started out as aa_bebe_phat_aa during my xanga days and when I decided to venture into fashion blogging I started out as The Little Black Sheep Fashion which I soon changed to The Jean Louise and eventually Issaplease.
Issaplease was my multiply name and it was greatly influenced by Amanda Byne’s show Amandaplease. When I was younger I would draw webpages that I wanted to one day own based off of Amanda Byne’s website. At first I was skeptical about using Issaplease because I wanted something more unique but somehow it seemed to have clicked and stuck.
WHAT DO YOU LOVE MOST ABOUT BLOGGING?
Issa: I love that I can be honest with myself and my readers and I love that it’s an outlet for me to express thoughts and feelings. I also love how it has opened up so many opportunities and experiences for me which I never thought I would be able to do before.
WHAT IS THE NICHE OF YOUR BLOG AND WHY DID YOU CHOOSE IT?
Issa: I originally wanted to take up business or fashion designing when I was younger but I was not able to do so. Instead, I made a blog about fashion where I would take about trends or how I was feeling or whatever I thought was “blog worthy”. Eventually, my readers would ask about where I was eating or for travel diaries so I decided to eventually get into that
ARE YOU MONETIZING YOUR BLOG? HOW DO YOU MONETIZE YOUR BLOG’S TRAFFIC?
Issa: Yes, I monetize my blogs either on Nuffnang or Google. I also rent out my ad space and have other means of making money through blogging.

WHERE DO YOU FIND INSPIRATION FOR YOUR BLOG POSTS?
Issa: I find inspiration in everything and anything. I like to work with a lot of photographers so I usually look to them for concepts for our photo shoots but I also have my own set of ideas in store. I like to go through videos, magazines, pinterest or Tumblr to see what’s new but if I have to shoot a specific piece of clothing then I’ll usually use that to inspire the rest of the outfit and even my photo concept.
BESIDES BLOGGING, WHAT OTHER INTERESTS DO YOU HAVE?
Issa: I like to make videos, go to events every once in a while, I enjoy traveling, shopping or just hanging out. The usual stuff.

WHAT ADVICE CAN YOU GIVE TO SOMEONE WHO JUST STARTED BLOGGING

LASTLY, WHERE DO YOU SEE YOUR BLOG IN THE NEXT FIVE YEARS?
Issa: Hopefully Issaplease will become a bigger brand. I am really curious to see how far I can make it with blogging and hopefully one day I can be among the top bloggers of the country. Hopefully.
