HOLLEY NATIONAL HOT ROD REUNION PRESENTED BY AAA INSURANCE THUNDERS INTO BEECH BEND RACEWAY PARK
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – Picture perfect weather and a bustling Beech Bend Raceway Park set the stage for a successful start of the Holley National Hot Rod Reunion presented by AAA Insurance. Fans of classic cars that have been restored to immaculate conditions and thrilling nostalgic quarter-mile drag racing filled the grounds of the scenic facility in Bowling Green, Ky.
“The first day of the event is one that brings a high level of excitement to the historic facility,” said Steve Gibbs, event director. “Seeing all the cars lined up to get into the facility before the sun comes up is a great way to start the event.
Nostalgic quarter-mile drag racing took place during the course of the day with 12 different categories taking to the track. Nostalgia Top Fuel took center stage as the racers got their one qualifying session in during the day. Adam Sorkin is the current No. 1 qualifier with a pass of 5.823 seconds at 228.15 mph. Jim Young had the top speed of the day at 244.74 mph.
The second of the three day event starts Friday when spectator gates open at 8 a.m. Racing will continue at 8:30 a.m. Tickets are $25 per day and can be purchased at the track.
