Las Cruces, NM – Around 11:00 a.m. on August 14, 2015, the New Mexico State Police responded to a plane crash located approximately one quarter mile east of the Las Cruces International Airport in Las Cruces. State Police officers conducted an initial investigation.
The downed airplane was identified as a T-28 vintage Navy plane. The plane was occupied by a civilian pilot and passenger. Both sustained injuries. The pilot, later identified as David Tokoph (64), from El Paso, Texas, was transported to University Medical Center in El Paso. The passenger, identified as Angelo Edgard Cossi Sedjiro, from France, was transported to Memorial Medical Center in Las Cruces for medical treatment.
The Federal Aviation Administration responded to the site to conduct an investigation into the cause of the crash. The cause of the crash is unknown at this time.
On the evening of August 18, 2015, the pilot, Mr. Tokoph, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by the Office of the Medical Investigator. The condition of the passenger is unknown.
